Today, we will be listening to Jonathan Morrow’s article Three reasons Why History matters to the Christian faith. Jonathan Morrow is a professor at Biola University and the Director of Cultural Engagement and Immersion at Impact 360 Institute where he devotes himself to train high school and college students in Christian worldview and apologetics to defend their faith. Jonathan Morrow shares with us how important it is that Christianity is founded on historical fact. Christian faith is not blind faith but it is grounded in history, based on reason and evidence and it hinges on the historical fact of the resurrection of Jesus. I think what he says in this article is so important, because a lot of Christians and kids like me who grew up in the church sometimes assume that it is truth without digging into the evidence. And others say that there is no evidence or truth. But if our faith is not founded on truth, why do we believe it? ANd if we do not have absolute assurance in our faith, how can we boldly proclaim this gospel? As we read this article, we really want our faith to be grounded in nothing else but the historical fact that Jesus rose from the dead and have deep conviction, having full assurance of faith resting in every promise of the Word of God. Today, we want to share the testimony of a sister who used to be a spiritual medium. The majority of us tend to think of the spiritual world as abstract, and to many of us, the concept of spirits and demons seem hard to believe. But what is amazing about this testimony is that to this sister, the spiritual world was completely, and painstakingly clear and reality. She knew what it meant to accept evil spirits into her own body as her master, so for her, believing and accepting Jesus as Lord was not merely words or a confession of lips, but a matter of life and death. To her, that Jesus was her Lord, who lived in her heart, was complete reality, and the spiritual battle she experienced against the evil spirits, made her even more desperate and sincere to walk with the Lord who resides inside of her. To this sister, conversion was not just simply a single event of belief and confession, but the life of walking with Jesus, united with him. I pray that as we listen to this testimony, the Holy Spirit will allow us to really open our eyes to the fact that when we believe and confess Jesus as Lord, he actually comes into my heart to live with me. Today we want to read the latest article “The Tyranny of Decadence” from truthxchange by Dr. Peter Jones. Looking at the reality of today's culture and moral collapse, Dr. Jones compares the flow of this generation to post-WWI Germany that fell into sexual and moral insanity. What is more is that the target of this modern movement is directed toward young children and explicitly advertised in children's books and social events under the guise of personal freedom and expression, while the gospel and the Bible are being suppressed and labelled as depraved and violent. Despite the current situation, no matter how difficult the times are, we are so thankful that God has already given us a clear solution, the gospel. I pray that as we listen together, the Holy Spirit would really wake us up and give us an urgent and desperate heart for the next generation to be grounded in the truth and the light of the gospel.
