Only The Resurrection

Today we want to read an article by Pastor Sung Ro Kim called "Unity with Christ: Faith that Obeys One Word". These are urgent times when the gospel is hindered from being proclaimed, and it is now more crucial than ever for Christians to rise and stand up for the truth. Christians who will give their lives to obey one Word of the Lord! Isn’t that what it means that Jesus is my Lord? To say Amen to his Word and give my life to obey! Throughout Christian history, this is the reality of the faith of the disciples, the early church, the martyrs, heroes of the faith who gave their lives to obey Jesus’ command to go and make disciples and pass down this greatest news of the gospel - that Jesus is risen from the dead, that this Risen Jesus is my Lord and my God - we have received this gospel, so now there is only way, one reason to live - Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation! This is the mission more precious than my life! Just as Jesus gave his life for the mission, just as Jesus Christ laid down his life for us, we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers. Don't we all ask, is there life after death? What happens after we die? Is there a heaven or hell? Is there real, good, tangible evidence that life does not end at the grave? We will be listening to a testimony: “A Chronic Liar Set Free by the Gospel!” The Holy Spirit’s work of repentance is so amazing in this sister’s testimony. Through the words of acts 17:30-31, her eyes were clearly opened to the proof, that because Jesus rose from the dead, Jesus is the Almighty God who came and died and rose again according to the Scriptures. The moment she realized who was it that died on the cross, her heart was completely torn. How could the Almighty God die for me? She realized she was the one who mocked and killed Jesus complaining to God that she was living a hard life of poverty as a daughter of a pastor. She crucified Jesus because she did not believe in him. She realized she was the murderer who killed the Almighty who deserves to go to Hell. God really gave me a lot of grace through this testimony because like anyone who goes to church, I always heard “You shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free”, but what is the truth and how does that set me free? How do I know for certain that I have been freed? We hear that we have died with Christ and live as a new creation with him, but do I really live as a new creation every day in my life? In this sister’s testimony, the Holy Spirit really showed me the power of the gospel that because it is so sure that Jesus really rose from the dead, I can be sure that I really died with him on that cross. This is the truth! The old self who was a slave to sin, a slave to my greed and desires, am completely dead and I have been raised as a completely new creation, in reality, that lives completely free from sin, from death and from all the problems of this world! As we listen to her testimony, I really pray that the Holy Spirit will open our eyes to see the truth that sets us free from all our problems that I who lived for myself am dead and I am a new creation in Christ who lives only for him. We will be listening to a testimony of a sister who works with children disabilities. When she heard that God had given proof for all men to believe, the resurrection of Jesus, she could joyfully share the gospel with her students through the God-given proof of the resurrection. And these kids with intellectual disabilities, cerebral palsy, language disorders, by the work of the Holy Spirit were able to confess that Jesus is Lord and that Jesus lives in me! In today’s world, there are so many people who say that they cannot believe in God because of science. How can an intelligent, scientific person believe that God created the universe? Today we will be listening to a testimony of a brother who was a science teacher and although he went to church, taught evolution because he had no assurance in God or in the Bible and thought creationism was just another theory. But when this brother saw the solid proof of the resurrection and the lives of the eyewitnesses he came to the only reasonable conclusion that the disciples really saw the Risen Jesus so Jesus really resurrected! He could believe that God really exists and He could then believe in all the words in the Bible as absolute truth.
