Lindsay Hill's debut novel is a dazzling collection of over a thousand micro-chapters, weaving together the story of 12-year-old Christopher Westall's coming of age in San Francisco. “Christopher’s trying to find his way in a world that’s been shattered to pieces,” Hill told us.”The reader is asked to find her or his way in a series of seemingly unrelated shards.” This is the long version of the interview you heard on this week's show.

Frank Janzen spends days with artists, teaching them the art of printmaking. He's the master printmaker at Crow's Shadow Institute of the Arts. But he doesn't often talk about his own work. We caught up with Frank to hear abotu what's happening at Crow's Shadow this year, and to find out what he's been working on.

This week a collection of teenage musicians from Portland and surrounding communities step onstage to take their game to the next level. The Young Artists Debut offers a select group of musicians a chance to perform challenging work with extra coaching from Niel DePonte, a composer, conductor who is also principal percussionist for the Oregon Symphony.
