Israel’s repeated failure left the people exiled and their temple destroyed. Yet God promised a renewed, everlasting covenant that would forgive sin, write His law on hearts, and restore His presence within His people. Jesus fulfils that promise through His blood, offering Himself once to do what repeated sacrifices never could. Through Christ, God gathers people from every nation and lives within them by His Spirit. Because Christ met the covenant’s conditions, His people can trust God’s commitment and obey with gratitude rather than fear.

People want freedom from authority because they think they know better, yet self-rule leaves guilt, shame and frustration. God promised David a lasting royal house, with His people secure in their land and His presence among them, if David's sons kept His covenant. They failed, and Israel lost its kingdom, land and temple. From David's fallen family, God brought Jesus, the good King. He defeated sin and eternal death by dying for His people, and His wise rule brings peace to those who trust and obey Him.

Israel groaned under slavery, and God rescued them because He remembered His promise to Abraham. At Mount Sinai, He gave His rescued people the Ten Commandments, not as a way to earn His love, but as a life of grateful faithfulness. The law reveals whom people love. Obedience honours God, brings joy, and shows His goodness to the world, while settled rebellion exposes a heart turned from Him. Jesus bore sin in sinners' place so they may receive forgiveness; those given new life can stand firm and live differently.

Long years without a son leave Abraham afraid that God’s promise may never arrive. God promises countless descendants, and Abraham believes Him; God counts that faith as righteousness. Then God alone passes between the divided animals, taking responsibility for keeping the covenant even when His people fail. Jesus fulfils that oath by bearing the covenant curse, so salvation rests on God’s faithful grip rather than ours. Faith receives His promise with empty hands and responds with grateful faithfulness.

A rainbow follows the flood that judged a sinful world. God promises Noah, his descendants, and every living creature that He will preserve the earth, continuing its seasons despite human sin. This common grace gives good gifts to everyone and lets goodness, truth, and beauty remain visible, but it does not cure sinful hearts. Jesus finally bears God’s judgement against sin, freeing Christians to engage the world with joy and gratitude while staying alert to lies that promise happiness apart from God.

God gave Adam and Eve an unfinished but very good world to fill, cultivate, and rule under Him. The promised eternal life depended on perfect obedience, including leaving one tree untouched; breaking His command would bring death. Adam failed, and his choice affected all his descendants. Jesus, the better Adam, obeyed without sin and won resurrection life that cannot be spoiled. Because He redeems human purpose, ordinary work and care for others can honour God as worship.

People may gladly ask God to change their circumstances, yet resist the thought that He can change their hearts. Jonah plans an escape from God's command, but God sends the storm, exposes his rebellion, and brings the sailors to reverent faith. Human choice is real, but sin rules the heart until Christ breaks its hold and creates obedience from within. Jesus, who commands wind and waves, will lose none the Father gives Him, so His sovereign grace gives peace to yield every plan to Him.

Fire does not consume the bush. God calls Moses by name and shows Himself holy, far above creation yet close enough to hear Israel's cries and compassionately rescue them from Egypt. His name, I Am, assures Israel that He remains dependable, does not change, and will keep His promises. Jesus identifies Himself as I Am and crosses the holy ground sinners cannot, bringing forgiveness and new life through His sacrificial death.

A water basin stood unused while Jesus’ disciples argued about who was greatest. Knowing the cross was near and the Father had given Him all things, Jesus took a slave’s place and washed their feet. His humble act pictured the cross, where His blood cleanses those who trust Him, though they still stumble and need forgiveness. Pride resists both serving others and receiving grace. Jesus’ cleansing moves His people to serve those with sinful, broken lives, because their Lord first served them.
