Jerusalem welcomes Jesus like a king, but He arrives on a young donkey rather than a warhorse. His entrance demands more than admiration because the Saviour must also rule every part of life. Jesus wins through weakness. He bears God's judgement so sinners receive pardon and reconciliation instead of destruction. Because the humble King will return in glory, His people accept His authority, wait for His wisdom, and look forward to His completed kingdom.

An innocent man stands condemned while a known murderer walks free. Pilate repeatedly finds no guilt in Jesus, but the crowd demands Barabbas, imprisoned for rebellion and murder. Temptation can feel confusing because God tests His people, yet He never urges anyone to sin. Satan seeks their fall, while God uses trials to refine them and provides a way to endure. This prayer belongs to the whole church. Prosperity can breed self-reliance, while hardship can feed bitterness and pride, so Christians must remove what keeps drawing them towards sin. Jesus faced Satan without sin, stood in His people's place, and gives them strength by His Spirit to resist and return to their Father.

Jesus links asking for forgiveness with forgiving those who cause harm, making the Lord's Prayer deeply confronting. Christians do not become unforgiven whenever they sin. Christ's once for all sacrifice makes Christians clean, while ongoing confession is like washing dirty feet as His children continue growing to resemble Him. Persistent bitterness may show that a person has never received God's forgiveness. Because Jesus absorbed the punishment sinners deserved, His forgiveness moves forgiven hearts towards others and frees them from hatred and revenge.

Ordinary needs can easily take over prayer. Jesus places daily bread after God's name, kingdom, and will, giving personal requests a larger perspective without making them unworthy. Asking God to give us daily bread treats Him as a generous Father, admits complete dependence, and includes neighbours who also need provision. Jesus prayed for His disciples before the cross and gave His life for their salvation, so Christians can ask boldly each day and leave their needs with God.

A struggle over who rules begins in ordinary homes and reaches every human heart. Praying for God's kingdom means giving up self-rule and submitting every part of life to His good rule, even through hardship. Such submission rests on trusting God as Father, because Jesus accepted the Father's will in Gethsemane and went to the cross to save His people. His kingdom is not a burden. Like treasure found in a field, it brings joy, peace and the home human hearts were made to seek.

Prayer is not a bargain with God. Performance, anxiety, or emotional force cannot earn His attention. Jesus teaches His disciples to approach God as their Father, knowing He already sees their needs. Wanting to follow Jesus while repeatedly falling into sin can leave Christians frustrated and guilty. Galatians 5 describes the sinful heart resisting the Holy Spirit, who creates a deeper desire to honour Christ. Guilt is not the final word. Those who belong to Christ have crucified the flesh, and the Spirit grows His fruit gradually and inevitably from living roots. Keeping in step with Him means remembering Christ, examining the desires beneath sinful behaviour, and finding Him more worthy than competing desires.

Small disputes can consume people when self-interest becomes the centre of life. Titus 3 sets that pettiness against grace.
