On this episode of Open Tabs, Sydney's really fucking done with people completely misintrepreting some dead French guy's essay so they can keep buying shitty wizard-branded plastic and watch the newest attempt to reboot the shitty wizard show AKA Sydney and Bugs just read and discuss the entire, ACTUAL text of Death of the Author. Buckle up folks, its real academic hours in here! Huge shout out to University of Pennsylvania School of Arts and Science's Center for Programs in Contemporary (CPCW) for hosting a full, free access copy of a translation of Barthes's original 1967 'The Death of the Author' essay. (if you like to check it out yourself or have it open to follow along with us you can check it out at the link here: https://writing.upenn.edu/~taransky/Barthes.pdf)

On this episode of Open Tabs, we've got a real, living, breathing, not-currently-stressing-under-a-deadline-or-at-least-not-enough-to-be-too-busy-for-us FANFIC AUTHOR! in the metaphorical recording booth with Tappy. We'll be keeping his username and his works private (at a very reasonable request) but we are so excited to hand him the microphone and let him introduce himself and talk a little about what its like to be tapping away at a keyboard on the other side of the screen!

On this episode of Open Tabs, the hosts dig into AO3's post mortem regarding the March site downtime and new s-s-s-s-s-stats on AO3's user demographics. In a completely unshocking turn of events, James Bond and Harry Potter are mentioned several times. We are, as ever, back in the building again. On the plus side!
