Our lives should bear the fruit of kindness.  God is kind to us and we are called to be kind to one another, even when it’s not easy.

Our lives should bear the fruit of forbearance/patience.  God is patient with us so we should be patient with others. We are also called to be patient even when it’s not easy.

Our lives should bear the fruit of peace.  First, because in Jesus we have peace with God, but also because Jesus gives us peace in our hearts that transcends all understanding.  We are called to live at peace with others and also to seek to be peacemakers!

Our lives should bear the fruit of joy. We might not think of joy as all that important, but the scripture calls it a mark of the kingdom!  We’re called to be people of joy, but for the right reasons and we are called to joy even in hard times.

Our lives should bear the fruit of love. We’re called to love because God is love and loves us.  The heart of God’s law is love and we should love people as Jesus did.

Jesus makes it clear that a life of faith will bear good fruit. Paul outlines some of the key fruits our lives should bear when we live by the Spirit. If we do this our lives should bless others and be a pleasing aroma to God!

A lot of people are comfortable with having God in their lives, but many become uncomfortable when they realize that God’s desires is for our commitment to Him to stand above all other things and people.

We may like the idea of growing a rich and comfortable faith, but true discipleship is often uncomfortable because it means facing our flaws and shortcomings and seeking to change and grow, all of which come at a price.

Although the Bible, as God’s word, is an incredible gift and guide that contains many comforting passages, it also has uncomfortable authority over us and contains uncomfortable truths.
