I’m a recovering girl boss and couldn’t be happier. I like to think of the girl boss movement as “hustle culture painted in lipgloss”. What started as a way to define ambitious, young women focused on their career turned into an excuse to shame other women who don’t want to run around stressed, sleep deprived and working 80 hour weeks. Those days are over. I girlbossed way too close to the sun and got burnt, big time. Learn from my mistakes.

Welcome to my brutally honest career Q&A as a woman in tech. A few weeks ago, I asked you to submit your questions about managing your mental health at work.
Wow did you deliver…
These were just the tip of the iceberg. In honor of World Mental Health Day, I recorded this week’s episode because, though I pride myself on being a very strong, independent woman - it’s unrealistic to think that my grief, emotions, and trauma don’t impact how I show up in life.

If you watch your coworkers take vacations, log off at normal hours, and jump out for a workout class in the middle of the day - but are afraid that you won’t be successful if you do the same, this episode is for you.

Failure—it's a word that many of us fear. Yet all of us have done it. Steve Jobs, JK Rowling - every single successful person has failed. What if I told you that failure is not the opposite of success, but rather a stepping stone toward it? And what’s more important is not when you fail, but that you fail the right way. Today, we'll challenge the conventional narrative surrounding failure and explore how fucking up is a key part of success.
