The article "Original April O'Neil Was Returning for TMNT: THE LAST RONIN" reveals that actress Judith Hoag, who played April O'Neil in the 1990 live-action Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie, was approached to reprise her role in the now-canceled R-rated film adaptation of The Last Ronin comic book.[2] This adaptation, based on the IDW series set in a dystopian future where only one Turtle survives a vengeful mission, was shelved by Paramount due to a shift towards more kid-friendly TMNT projects.[2] Despite the cancellation, numerous other Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles projects are in development, including a sequel to Mutant Mayhem and another live-action reboot.[2]
