In honor of the upcoming Oscars (Sunday, March 12th), we're rewinding to the films we've covered that have been nominated for Academy Awards!

Pixar's Turning Red follows Mei Lee, a 13-year-old Chinese-Canadian who starts turning into a giant red panda when she gets too excited- a metaphor for "magical puberty". Mei Lee and her friends are also obsessed with a boy band called 4 Town, and with that, the ladies at Bitch Talk have never felt more represented by an animated film. Director Domee Shi shares her origin story and how she ended up at Pixar, how being the first of many things as a woman of color gave her the confidence to do things her own way, and the joy that came with creating Pixar's first boy band (4 Town, WE LOVE YOU!!).
