Selbstgemachte Musik – unabhängige Bands in der DDR von der Kompaktkassette ins Radio
Mit Lutz Schramm, dem Radiomoderator der Sendung „Parocktikum“ aus dem DDR-Jugendradios DT64 spreche ich über Kassetten als DIY-Medium der Independant-Musikszene zur Wendezeit. Er erzählt wie Panker und Pastoren zusammenfanden, von seiner Erfahrung als Teil einer sogenannten Einstufungs-Komission, über seine Radiosendung am Rande der (Selbst-)Zensur, und Pressefreiheit.

Flucht in die Ehe
Es mag keine spektakuläre Fluchtgeschichte sein und doch hat sie mindestens ein Leben nachhaltig verändert. Weil er vom Osten bereits alles gesehen hatte, aber von der Welt noch nicht genug, entschloss sich der 29-Jährige DDR-Bürger Bodo seine Heimat zu verlassen.Die deutsch-deutsche Familienzusammenführung ermöglichte ihm auf ungewöhnliche Art und Weise die Ausreise in den Westen und somit ein neues Leben.

Bodo (geb. 1959 in Berlin) wuchs im Berliner Stadtteil Pankow als zweites Kind einer Arbeiterfamilie auf. Da er aufgrund persönlicher Einstellungen eine Offizierslaufbahn ablehnte, wurde ihm der Zugang zu einer Berufsausbildung mit Abitur verweigert. Nach dem Abschluss der zehnten Klasse absolvierte er daher eine Lehre als Maschinen- und Anlagenmonteur im VEB Bergmann-Borsig. Auf die Grundausbildung bei der Armee folgte eine Anstellung als Kraftfahrer bei dem Elektrifizierungs- und Ingenieurbaubetrieb der Reichsbahn. Da Bodo durch viele Auslandsaufenthalte bald an das Ende der Reisemöglichkeiten für DDR-Bürger stieß und ihm außerdem aufgrund von Unangepasstheit der Zugang zur Universität verweigert wurde, beschloss er seine Ausreise aus der DDR. Mithilfe von Freunden, die teilweise bereits in die BRD übergesiedelt waren, konnte er eine Westdeutsche ehelichen und so im Februar 1989 legal ausreisen. Den Studiumsplänen kam eine Festanstellung bei den Berliner Verkehrsbetrieben zuvor, bei denen Bodo bis heute angestellt ist. Seine neugewonnene Reisefreiheit nutzte er ausgiebig bei Urlauben in den Vereinigten Staaten und ganz Europa.

Gelähmte Hoffnung
An einem Sonntag im August
Im Gespräch mit Pfarrer Menthel wird deutlich, dass sich viele Fragen zur Kirchenpolitik in der
DDR nicht einfach mit Ja oder Nein beantworten lassen. Oft gibt es eben mehr als nur schwarz
oder weiß. Der 21. August 1968 jedoch war ein pechschwarzer Tag. Noch heute kann man die
gelähmte Hoffnung in seiner Stimme hören, wenn er von der Niederschlagung des Prager
Frühlings erzählt. Wir erfahren, weshalb der Sozialismus für Menthel nicht per se schlecht war
und warum es seiner Meinung nach für wirksamen Protest keine Selbstverbrennungen
braucht. Gegen Ende des Gesprächs wird die zuvor präsente Schwere von neuen Hoffnungen
abgelöst. Die zurückgewonnene Leichtigkeit in seiner Stimme ist nicht zuletzt der Fridays for
future Bewegung zuzuschreiben. Aber hören Sie selbst!

Mauer gefalllen-Stopp-Telegramme und die Wende-Stopp | Ostdeutschland erzählt #9
Mirko Bahro war jung als er die Leitung der Zentraltelegrafenstelle in Ostberlin übernommen hatte. Telegramme hatten in der DDR einen größeren Stellenwert als in der BRD, auch weil es weniger Telefone gab. Was sich staubig und trocken anhört, war so langweilig nicht. Vor allem als er erfuhr, dass neue Reiseregelungen kommen werden: die Telegrafenleitungen glühten heiß - drei Tage sollte Bahro im Dienst bleiben.
Im Podcast erzählt er, wie er den Tag des Falls der Berliner Mauer erlebt hat und was sich bei seiner Arbeit nach dem Fall der Mauer geändert hat. Er erzählt auch, wie er das Leben in der DDR heute beurteilt.

Als Trans*frau in der DDR - wie Jayne-An sich zu sich selbst fand
Wer trans, queer, inter ist bzw. war, fällt fast immer unter den Tisch, wenn wir Geschichte – selbst Sozialgeschichte – schreiben oder Erlebtes erzählen. Dieses Interview porträtiert ein Leben zwischen den Stühlen, jenseits der Geschlechterrollenerwartungen in einer streng geregelten Gesellschaft. Es zeigt aber auch, dass die DDR vielfältiger war, als vielleicht vermutet. Viel Spaß beim Anhören!
Hintergrund
Heteronormativität und konservative Geschlechtsstereotype scheinen im Alltag der DDR fest verankert gewesen zu sein, transsexuelle Personen waren öffentlich in keiner Weise sichtbar. So war es Jayne-An Igel beinahe unmöglich (kompetente) Ansprechpartner*innen zu finden, bzw. überhaupt zu lernen, über ihre Identität zu sprechen. Bis 1989 alles anders wurde.
Dabei wurde – sogar vier Jahre vor dem bundesdeutschen „Transsexuellengesetz“ von 1980 – in der DDR 1976 eine „Verfügung zur Geschlechtsumwandlung von Transsexualisten“ erlassen. Diese Verfügung blieb allerdings unveröffentlicht und war nur in Fachkreisen bekannt. Jayne-An Igel konnte sich so in der DDR auch in den später 1970er Jahren kaum über den Weg eines Geschlechtswechsels informieren. Erst mit dem Fall der Mauer wurde der Austausch über Transsexualität leichter und Jayne-An konnte ihr Leben als Frau aufnehmen.
Biografie
Jayne-An Igel wurde 1954 geboren und wuchs am Stadtrand von Leipzig in einer kleinen Siedlung mit Dienstwohnungen für Angestellte des Strafvollzugs auf. Ihr Vater arbeitete in der Haftanstalt gleich nebenan, die sie aus dem Zimmerfenster heraus sehen konnte, denn nur ein Bach und eine Mauer trennten Anstalt und Wohnviertel.
Diese Umgebung wirkt aus heutiger Sicht merkwürdig normiert: Im Viertel wohnten nur Familien, deren Mütter und/oder Väter im Strafvollzug arbeiteten, alle waren aus der Kirche ausgetreten ... Igels Vater war ihr und ihrem älteren Bruder immer misstrauisch gegenüber eingestellt – „Der sah einen dann schon gleich im Strafvollzug.“
Zu Hause wurde viel klassische Musik gehört und gelesen „mehr als ‚der Kultur und Fortschritt’ damals veröffentlichte.“ Auch später hielt Igel sich in künstlerischen Kreisen auf und war politisch interessiert. Die lebensverändernde Information fiel ihr aber erst 1989 in die Hände.

Ein bisschen mehr als Sozialismus
Vom Leben in der DDR
In den zwei Leben von Beate bleibt eine Konstante. Ob sie nur nach Moskau fahren kann, oder nach Paris, ob das Abitur nur auf einem oder auf mehreren Wegen zu erreichen ist, ob sie einen sicheren Job hat oder mit Arbeitslosigkeit kämpft: ihre humanistische Einstellung verliert sie nicht.
Plastisch erzählt sie eine politische Lebensgeschichte. Von ihrem Vorbild, dem Großvater, ihrer leidenschaftlichen Tätigkeit als Lehrerin in der DDR, bis zum Umgang mit der AfD heute. Beate zeigt: Auch aus einer widersprüchlichen und lange nicht perfekten sozialistischen Gesellschaft können Menschen sich selbstbewusst Sozialistin nennen, oder sogar ein bisschen mehr...
Beate
Beate wurde 1957 in Sachsen, nahe der polnischen Grenze geboren und wuchs bei ihrer Mutter und ihren Großeltern auf. Für ihr politisches Selbstverständnis spielt bis heute der Widerstand ihres Großvaters im Nationalsozialismus eine große Rolle. Nachdem sie als Kind davon träumte Dolmetscherin oder Schauspielerin zu werden, absolvierte sie ab 1976 eine Diplomausbildung im Fach Pädagogik in Dresden und wurde Lehrerin. Diesen Beruf führte sie engagiert an verschiedenen Schulen in Rostock und im Harz.
Heute arbeitet Beate wieder in außerschulischer Jugendbetreuung, obwohl sie sich nach der Wende gezwungen sah, eine Umschulung zur Kauffrau zu machen. Die Wende erlebte sie mit ihrem ersten Ehemann und ihren zwei Kindern. Heute lebt sie Brandenburg, nahe Berlin und setzt sich dafür ein, dass Kinder und Jugendliche ein offenes solidarisches Weltbild lernen. Gerade in Zeiten erstarkender rechter Kräfte, ist es ihr wichtig, ein kritischer und geradliniger Mensch zu sein, die ihre humanistischen Werte selbstbewusst vertritt.

Zwischen Konsum und Intershop
Konsum in der DDR - geplant, gelenkt und verwaltet?
Eva-Maria Kuttler ist mittlerweile 69 Jahre alt. Die Hälfte ihres Lebens verbrachte sie in DDR. Für sie war es normal, auf für uns heute so alltägliche Dinge wie Musik, Früchte, Schokolade oder gar Strumpfhosen zu verzichten. Denn während die westliche Hälfte des Landes alles bekommen konnte, war das Leben in Ostdeutschland geprägt von Vorschriften und dem Verzicht. In dieser Folge erzählt sie von all diesen kleinen, ja fast banalen Einschränkungen und wie es sich anfühlte, als die Mauer fiel und die Ladenregale plötzlich voll waren.
Biografie:
Eva-Maria Kuttler (geb. 1950 in Kleinfurra) wuchs in einem kleinen Ort in Thüringen auf. Ihre Eltern führten einen landwirtschaftlichen Betrieb. Obwohl sie ein Talent für Zahlen besaß und lieber als Bankkauffrau arbeiten wollte, drängte man sie dazu, eine Stelle im Familienbetrieb auszuüben. Mit 19 Jahren gründete sie noch während des Abiturs eine Familie und heiratete einen Sanitärinstallateur, der sein Handwerk beherrschte. Dank seines Erfolgs war esihnen zumindest gewährt, über die Grenze nach Ungarn zu reisen. Nach dem Mauerfall ließ sie sich schließlich doch zur Bankkauffrau fortbilden und arbeitete einige Jahre in ihrem Wunschberuf, bis sie als Lohnbuchhalterin in den Betrieb ihres Mannes einstieg.

Verehrung, Ablehnung, Freiheit
Einst eifrige Jungpionierin und beste Freundin vom DDR-Staatsoberhaupt Walter Ulbricht,
musste Andrea in ihrer Jugend schnell feststellen, dass etwas nicht stimmte. Der Wunschberuf
der Grundschullehrerin blieb ihr verwehrt. Zwischen Freiheitsdrang und Abschiedsschmerz
flieht Andrea am Tag vor der offiziellen Grenzöffnung nach Westdeutschland. Die Mauer fällt.
Ist das jetzt der Frieden? So fühlt sich Freiheit an.
Andrea Schönefeld
Andrea Schönefeld, 1969 in Quedlinburg geboren, ist noch 1989 aus der DDR nach
Westdeutschland geflohen und einige Jahre später doch wieder zurückgekehrt. Nach
mehreren beruflichen Umwegen und einer erneuten Umschulung, zu Zeiten als sie schon zwei
Kinder hatte, ist sie heute leidenschaftliche Arzthelferin, Haus-, Hund- und Gartenbesitzerin und glücklich verheiratet.

Den Geruch der Pakete, von der Verwandtschaft aus Hannover, hat sie noch in der Nase. Den Geschmack vom mitgeschickten Kinderriegel, den sie auf einem Magdeburger Spielplatz teilte, noch im Mund. Ilka Heinemann erinnert sich an die postalischen Grüße von ihrem Onkel und ihrer Tante aus dem Westen und auch an deren wenigen Besuche. Alles unter dem Radar, da ihrem Vater als Feuerwehrmann jeglicher Westkontakt verboten war. Dann die Wende und die erste Fahrt nach Hannover. Eine Nacht-und-Nebel-Aktion bei der sie zum ersten Mal auf ihre gleichaltrigen Verwandten trifft, ihr Begrüßungsgeld nicht investiert bekommt und den Grundstein für ihr heutiges Verhältnis zum „Ossi“ legt.

In einem Zeitzeugen-Interview spricht eine Hebamme erstmals über ihre Zeit in einem ostdeutschen Krankenhaus zu DDR-Zeiten. Angestellt in einem kleinen, eher familiären Krankenhaus in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, arbeitet sie dort einige Jahre in einem kleinen Team. Untereinander kennt man sich schon lange, man ist vetraut, ist „per du“. Auch bekannt ist, dass der Vater der Interviewpartnerin Gegner des DDR-Regimes ist und ihr Lebenspartner der Polizei angehört. Eine heikle Kombination, die, da ist sich sich die Hebamme von damals heute sicher, dafür gesorgt hat, dass ihre Kolleginnen und Vorgesetzten sie jahrelang abhörten und ausspionierten. Leitete ihr vertrautes Arbeitsumfeld, ihre Freunde, wirklich private Informationen an den Staatssicherheitsdienst weiter? „Ich habe wahnsinnige Angst davor zu erfahren, wer was über mich gesagt hat.“
