This is our reaction to The Final Battle Parts 1 & 2, with your feedback. In this episode, we talk about how the final chapters of OUAT seasons 1 to 6 were completed. We discuss how OUAT's failure to kill their darlings sometimes hurts the show.
Other topics include:
We compliment the show for making all the characters heroes, but discuss whether it undermined the culmination of Emma Swan's story.
The seemingly sudden decision to compare Emma Swan to Jesus.
Alex follows through on her promise to rant about Gideon becoming a baby.
We discuss ALL the ships, even Swan Fire.
Bri disagrees with Alex about Swan Queen.
We speculate (but not too much) about Season 7.
A big thank you to all of our listeners for their thoughtful feedback and theories!

Show Notes:
We are talking about Once Upon a Time: The Musical! Also known as: The Song in Your Heart. Yes, our episode title is a reference to Rent.
This week we discuss how Emma Swan's journey culminated in the musical episode, shared our favorites (The Charmings! The Evil Queen! Zelena!) and not so favorites (Robert Carlyle didn't sing!)
Also this week:
We fill you in on the background of the creators responsible for this episode, Songwriters Zachary and Weiner, who have written for Universal's Harry Potter show as well as Broadway.

Show Notes:
This week we're reacting to the episode The Black Fairy. Since we try to see the show from every character's point of view, this week it's Rumple's turn for our empathy! We discuss Rumple's complicated history as a coward, hero and villain, and why his worldview is ultimately not changed by the truth about his mother. From Rumple's perspective, Emma Swan threatened to take away both of his sons, so his maneuvering to save his son right down to the bitter end is very in-character.
Also this week:
We talk about the growing bond between Zelena and Regina and share Outlaw Queen's perspective on it.
We share some thoughts on how the Fairies always fail at the job of "fairy godmothers." How the heck did Fiona turn into The Black Fairy? Why is Tiger Lily a fairy? Why isn't the Blue Fairy evil already?
Is this show's real message that we are all destined to become our parents?!? (Ack!)

We discuss the Charming Family and why they are not all that concerned about The Black Fairy even though she created the curse AND Rumpelstiltskin. We discuss Henry's problem and wonder why no one is all that concerned that he's writing in hieroglyphics. We discuss Belle's position as the Storybrooke Babysitter and why it sells the character short.
We liked the sisters stuff and the Emma/Regina/Zelena moments. And we appreciated the shout-out to Fargo. We also look ahead to what interest us most: The Black Fairy's showdown with Rumple and the upcoming musical episode.

This episode of Once Upon a Time explores an ethics problem that has perplexed many philosophers: is it better to save one person or to let one person perish for the greater good? The episode also reaffirmed season six as something that looks good on the surface but is slowly rotting underneath.
As the show continues to re-write its first season, we explore the ramifications of these decisions. Did Rumple also go back to sleep after Snow and Charming decided not to break the curse? Did pixie flowers continue to grow in the presence of Regina in Storybrooke?

This week on Once Upon a Time: The Black Fairy is here to chew the scenery! Gideon and Emma perform Masonic rituals with the candlestick and book! Once still believes that every great villain needs A Clock Tower!
Also, some serious talk about how this is Rumple's worst nightmare - a problem he can't solve. Alex and Bri debate how Emma treated Belle and Rumple and Gideon at the end. Is Emma the Hero we were waiting for in Season 1? Sound off in the comments!

Also this week: Regina admits she hated herself, coming finally full circle on her personal journey of self-acceptance. The resolution of Outlaw Queen was surprisingly effective, given that all the other possibilities sucked.

Also this week: we identify patterns that hold both Rumple and Regina back. Rumple tries hard at parenting but nothing goes quite right. Regina can never let her loves go and as a result she ends up with Zombie-Daniel and Not!Robin!

Snow is the Voice of Reason regarding Not!Robin!

Sour Alan Dale returns!
And in more serious news, we laud the performance of Josh Dallas as Charming's story takes a dark turn, and we debate what the right ending for Regina Mills.
