Jenna Segraves
Doctor of Physical Therapy with 8+ years of experience in physical therapy, teaching, and mentoring students. Assistant Professor for DPT students, teaching Neuroscience and Neurological Movement System I-II. Board Certified Neurologic Clinical Specialist and Certified Lymphedema Therapist, published author, and presenter at national and state physical therapy conferences. Co-creator of a 2-day continuing education course and specialist certification for occupational and physical therapists with a focus on the maternal and postpartum population to reduce the risk of neurological or wound events.

Rebeca Segraves
Dr. Rebeca Segraves, PT, DPT is an ABPTS Board-Certified Women’s Health Clinical
Specialist who practices in acute care and home health, serving individuals immediately after birth and pelvic surgery. She earned her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from Western Carolina University and completed residency training in Women’s Health Physical Therapy at Duke University. Clinically, her focus is on standardizing inpatient and early outpatient pelvic health rehabilitation immediately after birth and pelvic surgery, including cesarean section and hysterectomy. She lectures in multi-disciplinary clinical and academic settings with an emphasis on earlier utilization of occupational and physical therapy to enhance recovery after procedures impacting public health and quality of life.
Here are the topics we discussed:
1)  Currently, OT and PT services are not standard of care in maternity units in the US.  What can we do to change this?
2) What’s your elevator speech when people (outside of the client) ask “what do you do with these patients as an OT?”
3) When you go in to see your patient, how do you explain this program to them?
4) If the hospital is hesitant, how would you prioritize phases to trial the program?
5) I want to ask you: How do we get referral providers to send us clients?  How do we  get provider or hospital buy-in? And this is clearly a hot topic because I received the following question from someone on my FB group: "We’ve presented an obstetrics rehab program to the Ob doctors and nurses and it was well-received. We provided a quick reference guide for when to refer patients to us but we just aren’t getting the referrals. Looking for suggestion

Meet my guest: Erica Vitek, MOT, OTR, BCB-PMD, PRPC

Erica has been an occupational therapist at Aurora Health Care at Aurora Sinai Medical Center in downtown Milwaukee, Wisconsin for over 20 years. Erica is Board Certified in Biofeedback for Pelvic Muscle Dysfunction (BCB-PMD), Board Certified Pelvic Rehabilitation Practitioner (PRPC) through Herman and Wallace Pelvic Rehabilitation Institute, LSVT BIG and PWR! (Parkinson’s Wellness Recovery) certified.  She has a special interest in Parkinson disease, for both optimal exercise rehabilitation strategies and treatment of Parkinson’s specific pelvic health conditions. She is faculty at the Herman and Wallace Pelvic Rehabilitation Institute and has authored the 2-day virtual course Parkinson disease and pelvic rehabilitation. 

Erica has been  been married for over 21 years and has two teenage daughters!

Rebecca Hurst / Where to find her: Website
With 22 years experience primarily in the inpatient setting, she recently opened a small business mentoring therapists on neurogenic bowel/bladder. This spring, she left inpatient and negotiated the first OT position in her hospital based pelvic health outpatient clinic.  Her passion is continence training no matter what the diagnosis but her background is training SCI patients, caregivers, and staff. She is thrilled to specialize in pelvic health. Her claim to fame is being on the Oprah Show to promote women's safety on college campuses. In her free time, she loves making home grown bouquets, learning to quilt, mountain biking, and hanging out with her dog.

Sarah has been an OT for over 20 years in multiple practice settings, from the NICU to retirement communities (her youngest patient was a 27 week preemie, and oldest was 106!) While she has loved being an OT in every practice setting she has worked in, she has truly found her calling in pelvic health over the past 4-5 years. Her other passions include teaching and supervising students, and research. She is faculty at Shenandoah University's Division of Occupational Therapy, and owns a mobile outpatient pelvic health practice in Northern Virginia called Balanced Pelvic Health. When she's not geeking out about all things OT and pelvic health, you can find her spending time with her husband, 3 kids, and cat.
Tara Wigal-Wertsching
Tara has been a treating occupational therapist for 36 years in Phoenix, Arizona. Her career as an OT is multifaceted with a focus on pelvic floor dysfunction and incontinence. Tara works for HonorHealth Outpatient Therapy Services treating several female and male clients with pelvic pain, sexual dysfunction, and urinary/fecal incontinence.

She has been an occupational therapist for 20 years.  The majority of her career was in hospital based neurological rehabilitation.  She transitioned to outpatient pelvic health two years ago and never looked back.  While she  loves serving all populations in pelvic health, her passion is treating the postpartum woman and helping them transition back to work and sport.

She has been an OT for 23 years, and have worked in almost every setting all over the country. She discovered Pelvic floor therapy through her own issues specifically after her daughter was born trying to get back to running and started getting plantar fasciitis, knee and low back pain. Ironically enough,  she has been peeing her pants since She was in her20’s.  She is now a proud former pants pee’er! However once she started my deep dive, she  fell in love with PFT, it made changes in me that she had not expected and the best part is that it is a whole body approach. She admits the field can be difficult to feel confident in a times but it’s just such a perfect fit for OT. She now has my own business which allows her to take a little more time to evaluate patients. She constantly learning and adapting her evaluations/sessions to meet the needs of her clients.
