Dr. LuLu Shimek is a Naturopathic Physician and expert in genetic health, working with patients experiencing chronic diseases: hormonal imbalance, endocrine disorders, gastrointestinal dysfunction, depression, anxiety and fatigue. Before starting Dr. LuLu Naturopathic Clinic, she journeyed through many careers, a true “renaissance woman”. Dr. LuLu studied interior design at the University of Georgia and has a doctorate from the prestigious Bastyr University. She is also an herbal formulator, international speaker and author, spreading the message of health and educating about prevention and wellbeing.

Dr. LuLu facilitates ceremonies to activate plant and mineral medicine connecting points around the world to elevate planetary consciousness and community. As the botanical medicine director at the Veterans Healing Farm, she is able to share her expertise with the veteran community about using plants to help heal and elevate their lives. She is invigorated by traveling and seeing the world with her husband, visiting botanical gardens and anything related to delicious food.
Doc Lulu starts the conversation with sharing more of her many careers with Kai asking what made her decide to do all these things and how did it lead to being a Naturopathic Physician (7:30). Kai then asks the difference between her job and a regular doctor (9:12) in which she explains that they usually look into the root cause of the medical issue rather than treating it with a band-aid solution. A viewer, which is a veteran, asks if Doc LuLu could share more about her clinic's service to the veterans in her area (11:35).
Kai shifts the conversation by asking how does our guest find time for herself with all the service she does to other people (12:43) where she shares how the pandemic shifted her usual setup, from a physical clinic to a tele-medecine atmosphere, and she makes sure to take care of herself first before going through the day. Kai was also curious about their ecosystem, as Doc Lulu is working with several other practitioners (22:07).
Dell then asks on her recommendation for people who are dealing with stress and anxiety which is common during this pandemic (26:19). Kai then asks about her most mind-blowing and profound experience in healing (30:18).
They then talk about herbs and supplements and choosing the right one for you (39:19). Kai asks about her plant medicine spectrum pointing out from herbs to psychedelic plants (43:19). This opens up a conversation about juicing, cleansing and detoxing where Doc LuLu shares that she used to be a strict vegetarian for 13 years (49:30) where she shares that she felt guilty on limiting herself the freedom of choosing what her body wants. Dell is curious on how she overcame the guilt (50:40) where Doc says she created a distraction and a replacement to break the tape-loop. She also points out the importance of support systems (56:45).
