Our Foundations Podcast

Dr. Norman Horn is the founder and editor of the Libertarian Christian Institute and an author with a focus on theology, science, economics, engineering, and political theory. In this first half of the interview, we discuss most of the theology related topics and begin to get into the political theory. This includes why some choose to believe in God, how different people interpret political theory from the Bible, some effects of the Reformation, the concept of distributed knowledge, the dangers and issues with centralization in Religion and in government, and much more.

Nathan Gilmour is a host on the Christian Humanist podcast, a writer, and a professor at Emmanuel College. This fits perfectly with an exploration into the topics of theology, philosophy, writing, and education among others. Our focus is on these aspects in the time of the middle ages through the Reformation. We discuss many of the parallels being covered in Season 2 and apply many aspects of our conversation to today's culture. This will be another 2 part interview. This second section highlights media literacy, the modern and historical education systems, the impact of technology on these shifts, philosophy, power shifts through the Reformation movement, political theory, and other related topics.

Welcome to Season 2 of Our Foundations. This episode serves as a general introduction to the ideas and structure of Season 2. The short version- history can be cyclical in ways and can be very helpful when assessing and understanding current and future events. There is a direct parallel between our modern times with the rise of the internet, Big Tech, the modern State, anti-establishment movements, dominant international corporations, etc. and the historic period of the late Middle Ages, Renaissance, and Reformation with the printing press, the historic Church, Christendom, the Reformation, feudalism, and other aspects. Season 2 will begin with some guest hosts of other podcasts in relevant fields coming on to cover these themes with me from their respective perspectives and then the rest of the season will consist of me expounding on specific parallels and correlations.
