Donald Graham, former Publisher and Chairman of The Washington Post, discusses the history of The Washington Post starting with its purchase at bankruptcy sale by his grandfather, Eugene Meyer, and how Mr. Meyer. Graham’s is a perspective you want hear anywhere else. After all his father, his mother and he were Publishers. Donald Graham rose to his position as Publisher through the ranks. He first came to The Post, however, after spending a year in Vietnam, and after a 1-1/2 years as a DC police officer because he thought it “would be smart to do . . .to learn the city in some other way than a newspaper person.” Graham also discusses some of the best decisions he made while in management, and gives us an inside into his mom, Kate Graham, as a business woman.
