Today marks 215 years since the birth of Joseph Smith, Jr. Members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (otherwise known as the Mormon Church) believe that Joseph Smith was called by God to restore the Church of Jesus Christ as it had existed in the Bible. Joseph Smith was the first prophet and president of the LDS Church.
