o His mercies are new every morning (thank God)
o Mercies is not getting what you deserve even though you keep sinning
o Lets thank God and praise God for His mercies!
- Bless the Lord, O my Soul
o Your soul is the everlasting part
o It is the core of you really are
o Let the blessing well up from deep inside
- And all that is within me, bless His holy name!
o What is all that is in you?
o It’s more than your soul – its everything else too
o All of you should bless His holy name
§ The name of Jesus Christ is what makes a man or woman holy
§ Only faith in Jesus Christ has the power to cleanse us over & over
2 Bless the Lord, O my soul,
And forget none of His benefits;
3 Who pardons all your iniquities,
Who heals all your diseases;
4 Who redeems your life from the pit,
Who crowns you with lovingkindness and compassion;
5 Who satisfies your [a]years with good things,
So that your youth is renewed like the eagle.
- Bless the Lord, O my soul
o This is repeated for emphasis
- And forget none His benefits
o We should memorize His benefits
§ Who pardons all your iniquities (that means mine and yours personally)
§ Who heals all your diseases (makes you well again)
§ Who redeems your life from the pit (rescued from the pit of hell)
§ Who crowns you with lovingkindness & compassion (on your head)
§ Who satisfies your years with good things (faithful year after year)
§ So that your youth is renewed like the eagle (still able to soar)
o First He heals us spiritually; then physically; then eternally; then mentally and from the heart; then materially; then actively so we soar into old age!
6 The Lord performs [b]righteous deeds
And judgments for all who are oppressed.
- The Lord performs righteous needs (these are deed He does not that we do)

Psalm, Chapter 102
Prayer of an Afflicted Man for Mercy on Himself and on Zion.
A Prayer of the Afflicted when he is faint and [a]pours out his complaint before the Lord.
102 Hear my prayer, O Lord!
And let my cry for help come to You.
- The title of this message is prayer of an afflicted man for Mercy on Himself and on Zion
o we often pray much more often when we're afflicted than when we're not
o the afflicted man prays for mercy on himself and on Zion
o this is a good indication that it's OK to pray for yourself but also for other believers
- A prayer of the afflicted when he is faint
o this is the point at which you are worn out and tired of the fight
o you're so worn out you're about to faint pass out
- and pours out his complaint before the Lord
o this is what we should do when we feel like or at the end of our rope and we're about to pass out
o pour out your complaint before the Lord (This implies that you remember who He is first)
o this means you tell the Lord exactly what's bothering you
- Hear are my prayer oh Lord
o The first request is that the Lord would hear my prayer
o it's like getting God's attention; like could you bend your ear and listen
o it's awesome to consider that God almighty would literally incline his ear and listen to mere men but He does if we simply ask Him
- and let my cry for help come to you
o notice it was not just a cry (a complaint or a Kafetch)
o it is a cry for help and then it would reach all the way up to the Lord
o You have to ask God for help and then you have to believe that he hears you and that your request will go all the way up to Him
2 Do not hide Your face from me in the day of my distress;
Incline Your ear to me;
In the day when I call answer me quickly.
- Do not hide your face from me in the day of my distress
o this means don't split
o sometimes when we pray we wonder where God is because it does not seem that He is present or listening
o if you are having a day of distress you would like God to hear your concern as soon as possible and answer you quickly (this is only human)
- incline your ear to me
o this might seem presumptuous but David is asking that God bend his ear that he paid attention and listened to what he has to say
o this concept is repeated because God wants us to know this (take note of it)
- in the day when I call answer me quickly
o notice the request is in the day when I call
§ that means the same day
o answer me quickly
§ this is the hope of every prayer or it should be
§ do you believe that God will answer you quickly or do you doubt that he hears or that He will answer you at all
§ it's important to trust God if you want an answer to your prayer anytime soon

Psalm 101
Of David. A psalm.
1 I will sing of your love and justice;
to you, Lord, I will sing praise.
- The name David means “beloved”
- The name psalm means “a sacred song or hymn”
- David was beloved of God even though He had sinned with Bathsheba
o David repented and it was later said that he was a man after God’s own heart
o So we learn from this example, that although we have all sinned and fallen short of God’s standards, we are still beloved when we repent (turn and go the opposite direction) and ask for forgiveness
o We then receive mercy & grace instead of judgment
o When this fact becomes a reality in your heart you too will want sing the song of Psalm 101
- I will sing of your love and justice
o The first thing we sing about is God’s love (because He loved sinners)
o The second thing we sing about is justice (rewarding people for their actions in a just way; punishment for evil; blessings for good)
- To you, Lord, I will sing praise
o This is very specific (we sing to the Lord Jesus Christ alone)
o We sing praise (to glorify; to express favorable judgement of; commend)
§ Thankworthy response
2 I will be careful to lead a blameless life—
when will you come to me?
- If you know you are a sinner and God saved you
- If you know He loves you anyway because you put your faith in Jesus Christ who paid your sins
- If you are singing because of His love and justice and praising Him, then this is what you would want to do next!
- I will be careful to lead a blameless life
o When you receive blessing from God you want more
o You don’t want to do anything that would displease God
o Therefore, you become more careful than ever
§ To lead a blameless life
§ This means to follow God’s word as closely as possible
§ Thoughtfully, carefully, prayerfully, intentionally

What does the Bible say about Thanksgiving?
Good Deeds Produce Thanksgiving
Jesus died upon the cross to purify for Himself, a group of people zealous for good deeds (Tit 2:14).
As Jesus's people, we work diligently in our Lord's kingdom, to do the good works God prepared beforehand (Eph 2:10).
As do the Lord's work, we affect the lives others. The result is thanksgiving, directed toward God. People in the world see our good works and glorify God.
Let you light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works and glorify your Father who is in heaven (Mat 5:16)
Good deeds directed toward our brethren produce thanksgiving to God (2 Corinthians 9:10-11)
We learn to give of
- our time
- our attentions
- our abundance
- our love
- our patience
- ourselves
- God multiplies whatever you give Him
We are devoted to prayer with an attitude of thanksgiving (Col 4:1-4)
2 Devote yourself to prayer, keeping alert in it with attitude of thanksgiving;
We are to live a thankful life (1 The 5:14-18)
18 in everything give thanks; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus
A thankful life is a prayerful life. A life void of prayer is an unthankful life.
The angels in heaven give thanks to God and so will we. (Rev 11:15-19)
17 "we give You thanks, O Lord God, the Almighty who are and who were, because You have taken Your great power and have begun to reign.
When we get to heave, we will give thanks forever (Rev 7:9-12)
12 saying "Amen, blessing and glory and wisdom and thanksgiving and honor and power and might, be to our God forever and ever. Amen".
Every day is Thanksgiving for Christians
Whatever you do during this busy life, remember to give thanks and live in such a way that others, who watch you and experience God's goodness for your hands, can't help but pause and offer up a prayer to express their thanks.
This is how others will begin to thank God which He truly deserves!

He [a]is enthroned above the cherubim, let the earth shake!
- The title of this message is incredible

- Let the earth shake
o He who made the earth enter it again, died and rose again
o Now in power calling all men to be holy (its earth shaking)
