One of the biggest stories of 2019 was the discovery of dangerous thinning agents being used to stretch cannabis oil. The vitamin E acetate scandal cost dozens of lives around the country, and vape sales, which were leading the pack among new cannabis consumers, took a devastating hit as trust in the industry evaporated. While we’ve slowly seen vapes become major players in the market again, there is still an inherent distrust in the community around vape carts. Because we’re at the dawn of a new era, it’s going to take a while to get everyone on the same page again. When I first started smoking, the wake and bake was a morally ambiguous concept. “Nobody needs to smoke that early in the morning! What you need to get high for as soon as you wake up!” they would say. We’ve come a long way, breaking the stigma of cannabis, and I feel like the attitudes on the Wake and Bake has definitely changed. Before, when people were hyper critical, we would lowkey keep our Wake and Bake ritual to ourselves. But I think it’d be super dope to share how we like to start our mornings with cannabis! Enjoying cannabis flower in the morning is a tale as old as time. Some people like Coffee or Tea to get them started. I’ll just take a sativa, please.

Mexico is pushing forward with their medical 🌿🌿 programs!

On January 12, Mexico’s lawmakers released the outline of their regulatory structure for medical 🌿🌿 , opening the door a SLIVER for adult-use 🌿🌿to come down the pipeline, not unlike their northern neighbors. Mexico’s congress faces a deadline of April 30th to make a decision about Adult use and hemp, under a directive from their Supreme Court 🧑🏿‍⚖️

What are the implications of this? Mexico has been a large supplier of 🌿🌿 to this region for a long time, and they were instrumental in the propagation and cultivation of the culture. Roll up, tune in, and let us know what you think!

While California’s legalization efforts have done a great service to the community by helping us break the stigma and walk us into a new era of 🌿🌿 acceptance, fiscally, it’s been a bit of a s*** show. I work in the legal 🌿🌿 space and I’ve been involved with a 🌿🌿 non-profit or two (shoutout @theLBCA for all you do), and one of their most important positions from those involved in the regulated market is the existence and profligation of the black market! 📈📈

One of the biggest points of contention among the experienced 🌿🌿 community is the legal limit on edible potency. As it stands now, according to the AUMA, edibles as a product class are limited to 100mg per package. But what about flower? 🌼🌼 The longer we spend in the space, the stronger 🌿🌿 seems to become. Humboldt has been California’s 🌿🌿 breadbasket for over 60 years, and they know the science of growing AMAZING flowers outdoors. Because of that, they don’t want 🌿🌿 uglier older cousin coming through and spreading all the bad vibes. They’ve put a moratorium on growing outdoor hemp varieties in the county since 2018, but they’ve since banned it outright! ⛔⛔
