Fear often drives us to stay busy. But Jesus dispels the myth that busyness equals faithfulness, and invites us to a new and better way.

We struggle to tolerate the idea of a God who actually loves and has compassion on us. When we come face to face with this level of love it can be so disorienting, so imposing and disruptive, that our response is actually one of resistance and fear. But we must realize that we were built for this love.

Do we believe that God's Word alone has the authority to change our world? Do we believe that it contains all the hope we need when the world breaks around us?

What is your life built upon? Jesus teaches that our response to the challenges of life is determined by the type of foundation we have laid. Ultimately, He is calling us to build on Him - but are we willing to go deep enough to let Jesus be our foundation?

Jesus teaches that our works are inextricably linked to what we treasure. There are always two dynamics at play - the outer life (the fruit) and the inner life (the root). If our life is to resemble the description of what a follower of Jesus looks like, He must first become our treasure.
