“Judge not” is a favorite sentiment expressed by Christians and non-Christians alike. But Jesus shows us that our inherent resistance to judgment is an indication of a deeper reality. We must understand that we are always being taught by something or someone. Maturity in Christ means asking honestly who we are being taught/judged by, and choosing to submit ourselves to the right judgments of God.

When it comes to living under authority, our pride often gets in the way of humble submission. But the Church is to be a witness to the kingdom of God and how authority ultimately should be exercised. When we humble ourselves and trust God’s plan, we find that God graciously relieves our anxiety.

We often view suffering as something to be avoided at all costs. But there is purpose in our trials. God uses them to refine us, to make us into the type of people He is wanting to create, and bring us to glory.

Our world is broken and reeling from the reality of injustice. Fully aware of our inability to save ourselves, Jesus - the Righteous - came to save the unrighteous. And this injustice is the only true means to genuine and lasting peace.
