Re Kiriyama is only good at one thing; shogi. But unfortunately, after the death of his biological family, and the harsh conditions of his adoptive one, he's living alone in the big city, wandering through life in a malaise of grief and self-doubt. Luckily, th Kawamoto family have basically adopted him due to Akira's propensity for picking up strays. Also, he plays shogi at some point, I assume. This week, Matt, Sam, Jae, and Jacob read and discuss March Comes in Like a Lion by Chica Umino.

Someone call Pat Benatar, because Love is a Battlefield. The two losers who overanalyze romance are back, with some on the sidelines finally getting involved to speed up this endgame ship. Look, we're just happy we're done with isekai-trash for the time being. This week, Matt, Sam, Jae, and Jacob read and discuss Kaguya-sama: Love is War by Aka Akasaka.

The OverMangaCast crew forgot to record ahead, and spent a weekend doing non-manga reading weeb shenanigans, so enjoy this bonus ep where we go over how we spent Otakon 2023. We'll be back next week with a new manga to read, but this week we're tired.

Last week apparently wasn't enough isekai trash, so we went back to the cistern for more. However, this one is pretty bad. Its generic, but unlike last time, something actually happend. MC-kun is a dude who just kinda died one day, and due to the mistaken actions of a goddess, he know has unbelievable power in another world. There's only two problems: his family didn't understand how powerful he was and dumped him in the woods, and he doesn't want anything other than to be an otaku. Will any of this matter? Nope. This week, Matt, Sam, Jae, and Jacob read and discuss Am I Actually the Strongest? written by Sai Sumimori and Illustrated by Ai Takahashi.

What if we were the kinda podcast to read an isekai, but that isekai was about a guy working at McDonalds. Except it turns out that its barely about working at McDonalds, and its just a group of cosplaying losers talk about all the cool fantasy nonsense happening off screen. This week, Matt, Sam, Jae, and Jacob read and discuss The Devil is a Part-Timer written by Satoshi Wagahara and illustrated by Akio Hiiragi.

Gordon is just a middle-aged man trying to run his mid-life crisis food truck, until he runs into the girl Arisa, who just happens to be on the run from the post-apocalyptic government in the desert remains of the Sea of Japan. The two form a bond as they run from the government, cook up delicious food, and keep this Crazy food truck running. We read the entire thing, so we'll go over the whole journey to its outrageous conclusion. This week, Matt, Sam, Jae, and Jacob read and discuss Crazy Food Truck by Rokurou Ogaki.

Akira Tendo has a shitty job to the point that he dreams of throwing himself in front of the subway just to avoid having to go in tomorrow. Been there buddy. Now Akira is living his life to the fullest and doing all the things he never could, as well as reconnecting with an old friend and maybe even kindling a new romance? This week, Matt, Sam, Jae, and Jacob read and discuss Zom 100: Bucket List of the Dead written by Haro Aso and illustrated by Kotaro Takata.

The OverMangaCast crew had a little bit too much freedom, so its up to the two lightweights - Sam and Jacob - to pick up the slack and haul into the recording studio to gush about anime osts with little conflict.

Born on the 4th of July, Freedom Ring! We're dialing up the Patriotism of this read as Joe and Senator Yamaoka fly to Planet Texas and eat enough steaks to talk to their king. Also, there is a subplot about Joe's relationship with Rachel getting physical, and how a new revalation from the Senator's past may use this tryst to cinch the Alabama vote. This week, Matt, Sam, Jae, and Jacob read and discuss Eagle: The Making of an Asian-American President by Kaiji Kawaguchi.

You couldn't keep us away, and Denji is finally going on an actual date with a real woman that doesn't want to kill him... oh wait, scratch that last part. Our hero is invited to the Aquarium, where nothing bad ever happens by Asa at the behest of Yoru under the aim to make Denji a weapon capable of slaying Chainsaw Man, only it looks like the hunter will become the hunted... This week, Matt, Jae, and Jacob read and discuss Chainsaw Man by Tatsuki Fujimoto.
