Phil speaks with Professor Aiden Warren, US Political Expert, School of Global, Urban & Social Studies, RMIT University, about whether the Trump-Musk Big Beautiful Bromance truly over?
"The only surprise about the very public and bitter end to the unlikely bromance between President Donald Trump and Elon Musk, is that it took this long to implode", says Professor Warren.
Both men wield enormous power in their respective spheres of influence, both have huge egos, and both have their own social media platforms to disseminate their opinions and to sling arrows, in real-time.
For Trump, Musk’s threat to “fire all politicians who betrayed the American people” in next year’s midterm elections will be concerning him and the Republican party who have revelled in his past support.
For Musk, the fallout will mostly be financial, with billions of dollars of government contracts on the line, and Tesla shares in freefall after the feud exploded online.
What happens next between Trump and Musk? Will there be a reconciliation or is the bromance well and truly over?
