Steve Sarkisian took a not-so-subtle jab at Texas Tech… and the Red Raiders came out swinging. Texas Tech offered to buy out BOTH Week 1 games to create a Texas–Texas Tech showdown THIS season. But is it a real challenge… or a brilliant bluff? Matt Moscona breaks down Sark’s comments, Joey McGuire and Cody Campbell’s response, why Texas has no logical reason to accept, and what this controversy reveals about the broken incentives in the College Football Playoff era. Plus, thoughts on Brendan Sorsby’s eligibility situation and why college football fans are the real losers in all of this.

Is the NCAA about to change college sports forever? A major eligibility overhaul could be coming, and it may signal the end of older players in college athletics.

Matt Moscona breaks down the NCAA’s proposed new eligibility model that would start an athlete’s clock immediately after high school graduation or age 19. What would it mean for redshirts, waivers, medical exemptions, NIL earnings and the future of college football?

Matt dives into famous examples like Chris Weinke, Brandon Weeden, Matt Mauck and others while explaining why the NCAA believes it needs new guardrails—and whether schools and athletes would actually follow the rules or just keep fighting in court. Could this finally end the era of 6th- and 7th-year college athletes? Or is this another NCAA rule destined to be challenged? Tune in.

Is college football headed toward an SEC and Big Ten super league? Iowa State AD Jamie Pollard says stop threatening it and just do it already. In this episode of Overtime, Matt Moscona explains why the breakaway feels inevitable, why schools outside the power structure are panicking, and how the future of college athletics could soon look more like the NFL than the NCAA.

Matt breaks down the massive revenue gap between the SEC/Big Ten and everyone else, the impact of revenue sharing, TV money, expanding playoffs, and why schools like Iowa State may simply have no path to keep up financially. Plus, what happens to non-revenue sports if college football finally breaks away? Could this actually create a better product for fans? Or would it destroy what made college football special in the first place?

Lane Kiffin finally sat down for a long-form interview with Barstool’s “Pardon My Take,” and LSU fans got a glimpse of a much looser side of the Tigers’ new head coach. Matt reacts to the funniest moments from the interview, Kiffin’s comments about LSU, Sam Leavitt, Ole Miss, and the now-ironic Ed Orgeron jokes that dropped just before Coach O officially returned to Baton Rouge.

Plus, Matt discusses why the Coach O hire makes a ton of sense behind the scenes, how LSU could be preparing for future staff turnover, and what Ed Orgeron’s role could actually become under the new NCAA recruiting rules. Matt also dives into LSU Baseball portal priorities, the Tigers’ biggest roster needs, Will Wade’s international roster build, and why LSU sports has become the ultimate content machine heading into 2026.
