The Cork town of Skibbereen was notorious during the Great Hunger. It became synonimous with the suffering of the Irish people. In 1847 two aristocrats - Lord Dufferin and G.F. Boyle visited the town to see the ufolding famine with their own eyes. This podcast is based off their account of what the Great Hunger in what they called 'the headquarters of the Irish Famine'.
