Today on the 5: Over the weekend I watched a Cannon movie from the mid 80s called Avenging Force. For a movie that is fundamentally just an intended Chuck Norris vehicle, it carries a very disturbing tone in today's climate.

Today on the 5: Movie studios continue to flail around with remakes that often crater with rare exceptions here and there. In comparison, the video game industry seems to have figured not one, not two, but three different flavors of success in revisiting old franchises.

Today on the 5: While many recent new entries in the mobile technology space have failed to interest me, the new Nubia Watch has my attention. It's mostly nostalgic, that's probably not enough to make me buy it until it works a little better.

Today on the 5: I stumbled across a movie I'd never heard of called Doctor Mordrid. It's essentially a Doctor Strange movie by Full Moon Features that works far better than it has any right to.

Today on the 5: Nintendo recently held a mini Direct focusing on the 35th anniversary of Super Mario Bros where a lot of products were announced. Many are angered by the limited nature of some of the releases Nintendo announced. I'm just baffled.

Today on the 5: Late last month the video game Control got an update that added some adjustments for the game's difficulty. It may be the best implementation of that type of system that I know of.
