Today on the 5: I wasn't ever planning to watch Madame Web, as it sounded like a near disaster in almost every way. Turned out I needed to in prep for Friday's show, so I've now seen it and it is truly remarkable in how many poor decisions were made in constructing this film.

Today on the 5: I've said a few times before that if Netflix had something worth watching, I'd temporarily renew my subscription to see it. I wasn't expecting 3 Body Problem to be the show that got me back, but it's a really good series that was well worth a month's subscription.

Today on the 5: News broke this week that there is a new Matrix film in the works, which I immedaitely dismissed as a terrible idea. After thinking about it for a bit and reading an interesting quote from Drew Goddard, there's a version of this I could see working well as a new entry in this universe.

Today on the 5: I've talked about my concerns about where Discord might be heading before, and sure enough news came out this week that the company is going to start adding "Sponsored Quests" to the platform. While it's too early to tell what this might mean in the future, it doesn't feel like a positive development. 

Today on the 5: Have you noticed that there are fewer Aprils Fools' Day joke posts online in the last few years? I don't know about you, but I am thrilled to see the tiring flood of largely flat attempts at humor falling by the wayside.

Today on the 5: Criterion recently added a movie titled A Question Of Silence to their streaming service, and the synopsis for it seemed really interesting. I decided to watch it, and it's ended up sticking with me. It's a film that makes you decide some things for yourself while still having some conrete things to say. 

Today on the 5: In episode 966 of Security Now, host Steve Gibson talked about Tim Berner-Lee's dissafisfaction with the current state of the internet. As part of his reaction to Tim's comments, he referred to aspects of the internet as being free, phrasing which makes my teeth grind a bit. Today, let's talk about corporate consolidation and why being aware of this stuff matters. Please note that none of the three 5s on this subject are meant to be critical of Steve Gibson. I have immense respect for Steve and his long running efforts to inform users on how to protect their privacy and expose terrible security practices.
