Today on the 5: I recently found out that Apple is sponsoring the Super Bowl Halftime Show for at least the next few years. This followed seeing an Apple Vision Pro commercial on TV, and the upcoming launch of that product would seem to make sense with the NFL deal.

Today on the 5: Out of almost literal morbid curiousity, I decided to watch the machine generated special advertising itself as an imitation of George Carlin by something called Dudesy. As you might expect, it's not that great an impersonation and it's not funny at all.

Today on the 5: One of the staples of the slasher trend in the 80s was the "themed" slasher film. One of the many entries of this type was 1984's Fatal Games. This one uses potential Olympic athletes as the potential victims, but it really didn't take advantage of the idea.

Today on the 5: I saw a post over on Bluesky from the artist Coop where he talked about struggling to post on Patreon in addition to everything else he does to promote himself as an independent creator. This feels like a holdover from the early days of Patreon that is hopefully starting to fade.

Today on the 5: I noticed that Vinegar Syndrome is releasing the physical disc of the 2023 science fiction film Divinity. I was already interested in the movie, but that announcement pushed me to rent it righty away and watch it.

Today on the 5: In episode 902 of Macbreak Weekly, the hosts spent some time on the possibility that Apple might add the capacity to run macOS on an iPad in some way. While an interesting idea, they all seemed to agree Apple would block sideloading from that implementation. If they did, who would really be interested?

Today on the 5: I realized several weeks after finishing watching Fringe with my wife that I never reivewed the series as a whole. Many others have pointed out how great this science fiction series is, and I completely agree.

Today on the 5: I came across this Engagdet story about Square Enix planning to use AI in future game creation, and for a brief few moments I had the thought that this might be a perfect use for the technology. That period of optimisim crashed and burned pretty quickly once I rememberd that Square Enix is a company that is chiefly interested in making money.
