Today on the 5: As tends to happen every 5 or 10 years, I've heard a bunch of discussion around the idea of whether we're all trapped in a monoculture. I understand where this concern comes from, but I think it's a problem that is solving itself over time.

Today on the 5: I came across another movie that had some wildly divisive reviews titled Operation Ganymed. Love it or hate it movies are always interesting to me, so I had to give this one a watch. While it's not necessarily a bad movie, it's also not a very well made movie.

Today on the 5: I have finished watching the Fallout streaming series, which I have been looking forward to for a while now. I've often talked about little value I place in most critical assessments  of popular media, but this is one of the cases where I'm in agreement with the majority of them!

Today on rhe 5: Since the review embargo lifted on the Humane AI Pin, many reviews have been published, and most have not been kind. In particular, Marques Brownlee for some very pointed criticism because of the influence his channel commands and the negative effect his video could have on the company and devices in the AI space. Wow, how colossally stupid is that!

Today on the 5: John Sterling, one of the landmarks of New York Yankees baseball, has rertired from calling games after over 30 years. While his approach to broadcasting wasn't for everyone, like many others he defined Yankees baseball for me.

Today on the 5: Google has announced the end of the Google One VPN service that has been out since 2020. The company cited low usage as the culprit, and I have no trouble believing that Google wasn't the first choice for many people when it came to selecting a VPN.

Today on the 5: News reports emerged over the last few days that Adobe used Midjourney content to train the Firefly AI model. A lot of opinions have naturally followed, but for me personally these stories are missing some critical details.

Today on the 5: I remember seeing the demo for the Humane AI Pin a while back, and like most "AI" products I had little interest. The Pin is now out, and I ended up watching Michael Fisher and David Pierce review the product. While their reviews largely ended in disappointment over the reality of using the device, listening to each of them express their hopes for what it could do got more inyterested in it than I expected to be.
