I’ve been meaning to cover Women’s Golf as a whole since I started the podcast. Not women golfers, I try and do that as best I can (Hazel Kavangh, Beth Coulter, Lauren Walsh, Mary Doyle, Rebecca Codd, Olivia Mehaffey etc) I mean the whole area of womens golf in golf clubs and in the golf industry itself. The reasons why women don’t generally play. How do golf clubs and culture need to change. What do men do that annoy women golfers. Why women are better than men at golf. Questions women have before getting started.

I’ve tried cover as many bases in today’s episode! I must also thank Jen Feighery and Noelle Francisco for their time and contributing to today’s episode.

A few days after winning the Irish Women’s Close at Grange Golf Club and fresh off the camogie field, Beth Coulter joined me for a great, insightful chat. Growing up in a non-golf household, what being from the country actually means (I have a test for that!), looking forward to the Women’s Amateur Championship next week and pretty much beginning a new life as a Sun Devil in Arizona State University in August there is plenty of interest to talk about when Beth Coulter is about!

LIV Golf is not about growing the game. It is not about those golfers doing best for their families. It is not about golf at all. It’s a PR crusade for a country looking to avert the eyes of the world from their home atrocities.

So this week’s episode IS NOT about LIV Golf. It’s about pure golf. You cannot get purer golf then that of the amateur game. This episode in fact should rightfully be laid out at the start of the calendar year! Note to self!

“We don’t do stuffy” is proclaimed in the About Us section of the Dingle Golf Club website. What they are as a community is incredibly proud, which they should be given the insanely good product they have created on the most westerly point for golf on the Wild Atlantic Way. They are indeed, custodians. Custodians of golf, of the Irish language, of Irish culture and craic, actually custodians of the game and are growing it insanely quickly in this pocket of Ireland known as the Dingle peninsula. Cormac Flannery is indeed at the the head of that experience, of that custodianship, whether he admits it or not. He is the spearhead giving the golfing community a their direction in any case.

The course takes in breath-taking scenery on the Dingle Peninsula along the Wild Atlantic Way. Originally designed by Eddie Hackett, finished off by the great Christy O’Connor Jnr off the original Hackett drawings. You have to come play here.
