Page Turners They Were Not

This past weekend was the San Diego International Comic Con, the king of all nerd conventions! While there were no major announcements regarding the movies or the shows, Lucasfilm Publishing had a significant amount of news regarding the books and comics which will continue the saga of Star Wars as they have been doing very successfully for many years. Join me as we examine the news.

During the course of The Acolyte, we witnessed the first on-screen appearance of Darth Plagueis the Wise. In Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith, Palpatine claims that Plagueis could use the Force to create life. In The Acolyte we learn that Mae and Osha were created by Mother Aniseya by means of the Force. Did Plagueis teach the coven the secret, or did he learn it from them? If we go by what has been said in Star Wars Legends, could this knowledge, however learned, lead to the creation of Anakin Skywalker himself? Join me!

On this week's episode of our show, Captain Ingle and I set a course for a boring trailer park somewhere in the middle of nowhere in Southwestern United States. Due to some temporal anomalies, our movie for June is being recorded in the middle of July and will release 3 weeks late. That being said, Captain Ingle and I are proud to present our deep dive in the 1985 science fiction cult classic Explorers! This film tells the story of three teenage boys living in the suburbs who start receiving mysterious signals via their dreams guiding them to build a vessel that is more advanced than anything humans have ever built. On this week's episode of our show, we take a look at the return of everyone's favorite Next Gen "villain", the omnipotent trickster Q. In order to teach Admiral Picard yet another lesson, his best frenemy sends the Admiral and his friends into an alternate universe where the aspirational Federation is replaced by a fascist Confederation, a dystopia whose most feared warrior is none other than Picard himself! It's up to our heroes to figure out how to fix this corrupted world and solve the puzzle Q has laid out for them. Join us as we go boldly!
