A new innovative office environment does not help if people continue following old work conventions in them. While scrolling on LinkedIn I came across a video produced by the communication and marketing department of KPMG Norway. Not only did it make me laugh, but the video also addressed how it is to be back in the office.

In this episode I am talking with Henrik Haakestad Lervold, the Head of Clients, Markets & Communication at KPMG Norway, whose team produced the video. We discuss KPMG’s current office model but also what the future will look like. Because KPMG is leaving the KPMG tower in Oslo. Henrik shares why the time of cell-offices is over and what benefits work zones and shared offices with other companies could offer.

How do you imagine working now that society is slowly opening up again? This might depend very much on the experiences you made during the pandemic. Did you spend your mornings in quietness with a blanket and tea in front of your computer at home? In a study conducted by DNB Næringsmegling among 25 companies with the largest office uses in Norway, 56% said that they would like to work remotely for two days a week. Thus, what employees are asking for post-lockdown is a hybrid office model. But how to implement it?

What is your company’s strategy for its office space post-COVID? A recent McKinsey study showed that 40% of employees had not been informed about any vision yet from their organizations and 28% found the information they were given rather vague.
