We get the backstory on Basil's bugges, urban legends, and technomancy fancies, as their recruited by Rook and Bridge to trap Millie and the other D-list Practitioners they've lured in. Avery raises some ethical questions, but we can save that for the upcoming arc, as the Kenneteers meet in a dream to discuss what they're doing, and more importantly, who with. After some training with Guilherme and some wheeling and dealing with Killwagon, Lucy talks to hero Kennet needs - Louise.

Pale Reflections contests 16.10 and 16.y! Verona completes her Demesne ritual... for now at least. She successfully answers questions from the judges, accepts gifts from the Kennet Others, and manages to convince Anthem not to fight her. But as one Verona rises, a Milly must fall, so we then spend the next chapter following Milly's descent into being a Practitioner. It's like that movie, Millyfiscent.

We check in with Avery as she refuses to deal with Florin, and ultimately leaves him high and not-so-dry, before hopping back to Verona who kick starts her Demesne claim. She works her way through the Undercity's movers and shakers, culminating in Mallor- sorry, the Family Man. Beating her metaphorical Brett, she moves onto Charles, who tells her she's not gonna enjoy the Lost Kennet claiming process.

Pale Reflections prepares for a big ritual with 16.6 and 16.7. First, Lucy learns from her experiences, although her teacher is not especially kind to her. Not falling into this pattern, she chooses kindness with Wallace. Then, Verona has a horrifying run-in with a handful of terrible monsters. One is an amalgamation of her items and spirits. One makes milk out of captured practitioners. But, more horrifying than either is the one who thinks doing dishes is a 10/10 in importance this joke will never get old!
