    Talked with DeAnna Warren, CEO and Keisha Henry, LCSW of Genesis Community Health. Genesis is a Florida 501(c)3 non-profit organization created to provide health care to all economic levels, with special sensitivity to the needs of economically disadvantaged people of diverse cultural backgrounds in and around Palm Beach County. Genesis Community Health is an access point of care for patients who traditionally do not have adequate access to the health care system. Genesis is currently funded through the US Department of Health and Human Services and other local agencies and foundations. As part of their services they offer medical, dental and mental health care. Keisha is joining the team to offer the mental and behavioral services component to their patients. We talked about mental health vs. mental illness and how there shouldn't be a stigma attached to getting mental help if you're not feeling well. We talked about some common mental health issues and then about the recent "celebrity" suicides and what to do if someone is having problems including asking for a CIT officer when calling 911.

    Talked with Josh Davis and Jessie Venture, Lifeguards w Ocean Rescue in the Jupiter area. They are part of the professional nonprofit United States Lifesaving Association, USLA, for beach lifeguards and open water rescuers. Their goal is to reduce the number of deaths/injuries in the aquatic environments via: public education, national lifeguard standards, training programs, and promoting high levels of lifeguard readiness, etc. They'll be participating in USLA Regional and then National Lifeguard Championships. National will be August 8-12 in Daytona (public is invited) and they are doing a fundraiser on August 4th at Waterway Cafe and listeners are invited to come out, enjoy some entertainment, raffles, auction items and find out more about water safety and how they can help keep themselves and their families safe. They also have 2 fundraisers coming up. Music of the Mind Tuesday 7-18 at the Harriett Himmel, with a Jazz quartet and “The Company” by M and M production (proceeds from tickets sold for KPMF at the 7-20 show) in the Rinker Playhouse at the Kravis Center.     Talked with Elizabeth Dashiell, Col. Trent Stephens, Palm Beach Shakespeare Festival and Carmime/Maverick, WILD 95.5 about July 4th events, upcoming Shakespeare festival. This year they are performing Love's Labors Lost. The shows are free to the public, held at Carlin Park in Jupiter, FL on July 6-9 and July 13-16th.
