Holly Heck, it's already a new year wow! Does anyone else think for the 'slowest year', last year flew by? I like to start the new year with a few goals, intentions, reflections, and a focus word... I still don't have a word, I thought it would come to me by now, so help me out. What could my focus word be for 2022?

My favourite thing about what I do…
The minute I realised that I’d had enough of working for the school system was the minute my life changed.
And I’ve never looked back.
Being your own boss means there’s always something new to learn on so many levels. There are endless choices to make…from the big-picture vision and strategy…to the day-to-day sales, marketing, accounting, and so on.
I used to love being on the front lines of all that. But tbh, these days I’m really enjoying the role of a “behind the scenes ninja” in several business partnerships.
Learning how to stay productive (work a couple of hrs a day kinda thing) train my client’s teams, find my “squad” of supporters, make a lot mistakes + bounce back…it’s all part of the journey.
The biggest lesson I’ve learned is staying true to what you really want. For me it was important to build businesses that allow for more play time every day. Call me a kid, I’m okay with that. But I can’t be werking hours on end, my body shuts down and I can’t handle it. Legit.
Mid week get aways are also really nourishing and this photo dump sums up a great couple of days exploring more of this incredible country.
Anyways, what do you love most about doing what you do?

What other biz coaches won't tell you about going from employee to entrepreneur…
A lot of biz coaches will give you their opinion on the best thing to do to start your business.
And they have great advice…but how do you know if it applies to you?
It’s not always easy to tell the difference!
The truth is, no expert can give you the best advice without knowing your goals, priorities, and challenges you’re facing right now in reaching them.

I believe there are three reasons why some teachers - despite feeling overwhelmed and don't even like their school, won’t leave. If you’re here, then you’re probably one of the two I can help. The other type of teacher isn’t ready to find a way out.
1. You think you don't have time to search for a new job, a new opportunity, a new way to create impact and income.
I used to dread looking for another job, re-writing a resume, and then going for interviews. It felt like 'looking for another job, was another job' but that's until I discovered a way to repurpose my skills as a teacher and create my own business.
2. You are terrified of change.
I've worked with and seen so many incredible, strong and clever AF teachers get stuck at schools they hate because they don't see the point in leaving when the next school is probably the same. Kinda the same reason people stay in crappy toxic relationships too. What these teachers don't realise is how they are EXPERTS on what 'shouldn't happen and have the solutions to problems other businesses have.
3. You're okay with being unhappy.
Remember I said the other type of teacher who is ready to find another way, yeah well "Karens" exist everywhere, who complains about everything but still sticks around? like WTF? unfortunately, I can't help you, Karen.
I’m hoping that you are the teacher that is overwhelmed and thinks you don’t have time to explore what exists beyond the classroom, or you are the scared teacher crippling with imposture syndrome right now. If you’re one of those teachers, I can help you shift perspective, create an exit plan and repurpose your skills in a way that is impactful, fun, and profitable.

A helpful business tip I discovered while I was watering my little plants in my casa and on the patio...
I had big dreams. I wanted a garden but living in a condo, meant turning my home and patio into a little zen den garden space. Everyone loves a garden. I could start the morning by sitting in my "garden" and sipping on my tea while I journal.
Uhhh.
Now I know why people smiled when I said I was going to plant a few seeds and, Boom! make a gorgeous green home…
I remember just looking at my plants wondering why they aren't growing faster, or at all! I'm just focused on rapid growth because I have no idea what else I should be looking for...
I think business is a lot like creating my little garden.
It requires soul-searching and going deeper than you may want. And it requires more of your time and commitment than you want.
The key to success is in the planning and the strategy, and in being clear on your ‘why’ – rather than fast growth.
Who would have dreamed I would learn so many biz lessons from trying to keep plants alive and creating a cozy patio!
PS: Anyone has great gardening tips?

Time for a little self-love and humblebrags...
We're all so busy that we forget or are too embarrassed to celebrate our accomplishments and everything we've achieved.
So today, I thought it would be fun to share some of the places I've been featured:
I'm most proud of the interview with The Entrepreneur tbh, because it gave me a voice to talk about the positive impact trauma can have. Bottom line, it fkn sucks and no one deserves to be mistreated, but when you hit rock bottom and are told by doctors 'you're lucky to be alive it's the kind of wake up call to really get sh*t done!
How about you? Where have you been featured, and which one are you most proud of?

You know how sometimes you get it all wrong, and it just kind of blows your mind? Yeah, so I had to let go of this simple idea to grow my business.
I skipped the reality of personal growth being such a fundamental part of my business journey and went straight into teaching strategies and tools to start an online business. But I finally started listening to my client's feedback and what they really needed from me wasn't the A B Cs to starting a business. It was a safe space to talk about real life as a teacher and work through mindset blocks.
It all makes sense now and in this episode I dive into the shifts and changes as I rebrand and reposition myself as a Mindset & Business Coach for teachers navigating through burnout and career change.

Hey friends,
Okay so this episode is a special one - why? because life for me in the last 120hours has been fkn chaotic, yet I feel grounded and grateful. Weird! I'm back in Mexico and survived hurricane Nora, which came through like a wrecking ball at speeds up to 145km wiping out entire buildings, bridges, and my good friend's well-known restaurant. Today's conversation is basically talking therapy for me to process how/what I'm feeling right now! I cry a lot, so grab your tissues because it gets sensitive AF.
Thank you for listening, I'd love to hear what comes up for you when you join me in today's talk therapy. Slide into my Dm @telina_too.
Until next time, stay safe and try to be healthy.
PRAISE THAN PROMPT! (So teacher of me to say this, but seriously).
1. Hey (name) please refer to their name, nothing is worse than a generic message - ew!
2. Find something that you genuinely liked on their feed, a post, caption, story? And compliment them. “Hey (name), that post about XX caught my attention because… (fill in the blanks)
3. Do this with no hidden agenda attached. Be genuine. Speak genuine. And watch your community grow organically.
Full transparency: my engagement from the front end is pretty pathetic, but I much prefer solid banter via my stories and/or DMs - this is where the magic happens, at least for me.
Right. Now that you’re ready to start a genuine conversation with someone you follow, I challenge you to slide into their DM. Apply these 3 steps and let me know how you go.
