🗣️ You can’t live a powerful life if you live a prayer-less life. 🗣️ Pastor Phil teaches on the power of prayer and fasting mentioned in Matthew 6 and 7. Prayer, firstly, is personal. Prayer is simply a conversation with God, not to impress others in any way. If it doesn’t come from the heart, it isn’t personal. Prayer is also relational; to get our will to align with God’s, and not the other way around. Prayer is continual. God doesn’t answer prayers always immediately, but he answers prayers always. What is fasting? It adds power to prayer. Fasting is expected (Matt. 6:16), it’s private (Matt. 6:16-17), and it’s rewarded (Matt. 6:18).

How do you know you’re dating? When and how do you put a label on it? How do you define the relationship, and what’s the next step once you have? First, step back and see where the relationship is heading. Has your attraction to their character grown? And are you truly ready for the next phase? Look for wisdom from God’s Word, His Spirit, and from His People. Once you are sure, have the conversation to define the relationship with clarity. When in doubt, talk it out in the right timing and atmosphere. After establishing the relationship, what next? The plan for dating is to pursue marriage, and the purpose is for observation and edification. Remember, a dating relationship is not meant to stay stuck on the stump of confusion.

What does the Bible teach us about how we should date? There is a lot of pressure around dating in our culture right now, so how can we make sure our dating relationships are spiritually healthy? First we must determine if we’re ready to date. The vision for dating is the destination of marriage (Proverbs 29:18). Are you taking care of your baggage, and are you who you claim to be? Before dating, be friends. Most marriages begin with friendship (Song of Solomon 5:16). And how do you get a date? Remember clarity is king (1 Corinthians 14:33).

The enemy often baits us to fall into lust, and he catches a lot of people. Matthew 5:27-30 teaches us that we can fall into lust with our heart, eyes, and hands. Jesus uses this common struggle to point us to the reality that we need a new heart, and that if there’s lust in our heart, our heart isn’t right with God. Lust leads to adultery and is ultimately destructive. Take the steps to get free from lust; your family, marriage, and relationship with God are at stake. Don’t take the bait.

Whether in action or in thought, we all can experience anger. Though anger is inevitable, it doesn't have to control us. In Matthew 5:21-26 Jesus teaches us that anger has a high cost. If the Lord's presence sat on the other side of anger, what would you do to get there? God calls us to deal with our anger quickly to be reconciled to Himself and others.

How are you being salt and light to your circles of influence? We should be spreading ourselves out into the world to preserve the places we go, places that are decaying. What good is salt that doesn’t leave the salt shaker? We are called to expose evil and what is sinful, but also love people, so that we can light a path that leads to Christ. He is calling us to leverage our platforms to invite people to follow Him.
