Parallel Fiction

Heather turns the big 3-0 this week, so to celebrate the occasion both pieces are picked by the woman of the hour! Heather covers one of her favorite young adult fiction novels "This Lullaby" and Jeff takes on the task of watching "A Walk To Remember" the first time. Will Jeff agree with Heather's picks this week? Tune in to find out!

You're going the RIGHT way! That is, if you're looking for great trip down memory lane with 80's Thanksgiving classic Planes, Trains, and Automobiles. This week we're covering stories about Gratitude, also including Tuesday with Morrie by Mitch Album. This week we'll talk about how we find the bright side to any story. There are moments to stop and appreciate what you have every day, make sure you don't miss them!

We're closing in on the Thanksgiving holiday in America. While that looks a lot different this year for so many families, we decide to celebrate the art of cooking & enjoying food. Covering Academy Award winning Pixar film Ratatouille & the novel Eat Pray Love, we cover how these stories show us how to rekindle our love of food. Also, we cover the food crisis in America and how you can help donate to the less fortunate this season (and all year). Links to those organizations in the show notes.

Thanks for listening and stay safe while traveling & visiting family this Thanksgiving!

This week we're bringing out two heavy hitters for Heroes & Villains! What better series to highlight what a true hero is made of than Star Wars? Same goes for Harry Potter! We'll break down how our main heroes compare against iconic villains, and give some encouragement to be more heroic in your own life.

Whew what a crazy election day in America. We hope you had time to vote, especially after checking out our previous episode on what makes a great leader. In episode 6, we'll be showing some love to "Unlikely Parents".

Much like the Disney original The Mandalorian, our Unlikely Parents are rough and gruff and by happenstance inherited a young child to look after. While they aren't your typical parents, our subjects Yondu and Joel have a lot more in common than you may imagine.

On episode 5, we're covering leadership! In this episode we highlight two of our favorite leaders of all time, Captain America & Leslie Knope from Parks and Recreation. Join us as we compare 2 pivotal stories in these characters history and relate how they overcame adversity to lead their teams through tough obstacles.

Aaah! It's the last Halloween themed episode of the season and we're going big with Monsters! Listen to Heather take us through literary classic "Frankenstein or the Modern Prometheus" while Jeff break's down Hulu original movie "Into The Dark: Good Boy". While both seem very different, as usual Jeff & Heather compare the two to real life and peel back the layers of what makes a true monster.

The final launch episode of Parallel Fiction! Come join us as we cover the cult classics "The Crow" graphic novel by James O'Barr and 90's hit "The Craft" directed by Andrew Flemming.

We're back with Episode 2! This time we'll be covering Spooooooky stories in honor of the Halloween Season. In this episode we'll be covering the Netflix movie "I Am The Pretty Thing That Lives In The House" by Oz Perkins and "Coraline" by Neil Gaiman. Enjoy!

Welcome to the very first episode of Parallel Fiction! We are so excited to start this journey with you all. Being that this is our first episode, we have all of the new beginning jitters and excitement to feed off of.

For this show we'll be covering the theme of New Beginnings, highlighting 1980's classic "The Karate Kid" directed by John Avildsen and "The Starless Sea" written by Erin Morgenstern.

Thank you for listening and we hope to see you back for episodes 2 & 3 also available at launch!
