Paranormal Palaver

Christopher O'Brien, author, researcher, longtime cohost of The Paracast. May he rest in peace.

March 24, 1957-November 24, 2024

Mary joins me in the cabin to share our thoughts on CryptidCon, follow up our talk with Mike Clelland, and consider epistemology. We also touch on ghosts before Sherri Brake joins us with over 30 years of paranormal investigations.

Prisons of the late 1800s and early 1900s abounded with tales and superstitions among the incarcerated. One axiom suggested that if a person dies behind bars, they will never find freedom in the world to come. Sherri Brake shares her experience with ghosts, especially as it pertains to former reformatories and penitentiaries. Her insight leaves your holler booger wondering if a ghostly encounter lies in his future.

A critical and baffling element in UFOlogy remains the omnipresence of the owl. Why are these birds associated with sightings of strange craft and unknown beings? Do they represent an archetype in the quagmire of the human psyche? How do they relate to the "hidden experience "? Researcher and experiencer Mike Clelland stops by to offer his astute insights in a special holiday conversation.

The Congressional Hearing on Unknown Anomalous Phenomena convened last week, with hopes the government will initiate Disclosure on UAP ASAP. But be it UAP, AKA UFO, IMHO, neither the FBI, CIA, DoD or any other ladle of bureaucratic alphabet soup will be forthcoming with the FYI any time soon. There will be no LOL as we examine the situation.

The "Aquarian Conspiracy" seems more like a saltwater fantasy, the "omega point" nowhere in sight as the world comes apart. Aaron and LW discuss this trend, as well as AA's psychic experience. The moment of truth arrives when he takes the Zener challenge!

Meanwhile, the lake surrounding Greer Island, Texas houses a hair covered, horned secret. Lyle Blackburn stops by to unravel this mystery as we explore his latest book, Lake Worth Monster: The True Story of the Greer Island Goatman. This Texas beastie is also our Cryptid of the Week!

A tragic missing person case receives due attention, then we turn to the issue of critical thinking. Is your holler booger too harsh with the Ancient Aliens crowd? Is he not critical enough of Missing 411?

Program Note: This episode was recorded prior to Hurricane Helene.

What really happened in the New Mexico desert in 1947? We turn to a surprise guest and a shocking theory, one born from solid research and nurtured with reason: though the human ability to reason may come into question. The answer terrifies perhaps as much as any extra terrestrial reality.

LW and Aaron celebrate their favorite cryptid! They begin with a scientific analysis of the evidence, particularly the Patterson-Gimlin film. But that's just the hors d'oeuvres! The party really gets started when Jeremiah Byron drops by from Bigfoot Society to share his experience in research and collecting eyewitness accounts.

Hurricane Helene devastated the South, and we pause to remember those who lost so much. A link for Red Cross donations is provided below. The respite from this disaster comes in the form of a wrap up of our UFO discussion, and a deep dive into Mothman. New information came forth at the recent Mothman Festival, and we revisit audio from an old friend.
