Bryce is a funny, mechanical, HAPPY little guy who was diagnosed with autism at age two and now five years old. His pure joy makes this world a much better place!
This episode has a lot of conversation about non-typical behaviors. We are trying to understand why Bryce is chewing on his fingers and shirts excessively. We also talk about the continued struggle for Bryce to give his friends personal space and no kisses. We also share out VERY EXCITING news: We received approval for Bryce's Med-waiver crisis case! This will give our family a state assigned advocate to coordinate ABA, language, and occupational therapies for Bryce. He has been without these services the past six months due to insurance changes (other than language & OT that was provided at the public school as part of his ESE services). Without the crisis case approval, he would join the 20,000 others who are waiting 5-15 years for their services.

This episode is about helping Bryce understand personal space and emotions. It's our current headline in our home as we try to find tools to help Bryce understand how to appropriately interact with his friends. He is beginning to understand emotions and is also beginning to feel affection for classmates. This is awesome! BUT he has to learn about personal space, so he doesn't scare them. We also talk about our dairy-free positive results, what Chris learned about brain predictability at a recent conference, and other headlines from the past week.

In this episode, we are vulnerable and talk about how depression visited our home after Bryce's autism diagnosis. We candidly discuss how we continue to overcome the sadness and find joy. It's not always easy, but we do our best every day as we ride this emotional roller coaster ride.

This episode is about our most recent adventures which included attending our first TACA convention and Bryce's Atlanta ferris wheel and Children's Museum adventures. We also discuss iep meeting (Part II) with our final plan for finishing ESE Pre-K and beginning Kindergarten in a general education classroom with support in August. It's never easy to hear that your child continues to be significantly delayed when tested by psychologists, therapists, and teachers ... BUT we are excited to give Bryce this opportunity to shine brighter than his test results reflect.

This episode is about last week's adventures which included Grandparents Day at Bryce's school. With a little bit of negotiating, we were able to get him to sign both songs into the microphone for the podcast! We also had a trip to the Emergency Room (mysterious allergic reaction), more insight to how autism affects our marriage, and Bryce's fantastic experience at our county fair this year! Last year, he shut down in anxiety. This year, he would have stayed all night if we let him. Preparation (and prayer) made the difference!

The correct website link is https://tacanow.org/.
Our church link that we mentioned in this episode is www.gochristfellowship.com.
The book series that we mentioned that has really caught Bryce's reading interest is

This episode is all about Christmas at our home ("The Colter Hotel" - listen to Episode 3). As Bryce continues to develop in his language and understanding, we are able to begin new traditions and feel the Christmas joy in a whole new way!
In this episode, we mentioned the charity that donated Legoland admission tickets and parking to our family as a very kind gesture that will allow Bryce to experience the park.
