Imagine if Jesus offered to come hang out with you for a week- go to work with you, stay at your house, play some ball with you, hang out with your family. That would be amazing.
But actually, Jesus thinks there’s something more advantageous than Him coming to hang out with you. Jesus told His followers in John 16:7, “…I tell you the truth, it is to your advantage that I go away, for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you. But if I go, I will send Him to you.” Isn’t that astonishing? Jesus says it is better for us to have the Holy Spirit IN us than to have Jesus WITH us.
On Sunday we’ll look at John 14:12-18, John 16:7-13, and Romans 8:14-17 to find out some reasons why Jesus spoke so highly of the Holy Spirit, and we’ll hopefully learn how to let the Holy Spirit do a powerful work in our lives.
