It has been frequently said that what you focus on in life will determine your outlook. 1 Peter was written to very discouraged believers during extremely troubling and difficult times. As the 1st century Christians faced unparalleled trials and tribulations, Peter sought to encourage them as he penned the text we will be examining this Sunday morning. It is my prayer that God’s word will encourage you as you face your current struggles.

The Greek philosopher Heraclitus said, “There is nothing permanent except change.” As we conclude our study of the Book of Daniel this Sunday we will be reminded that our future is not held in the hands of terrorists, the next president, the House, the Senate, The Supreme Court, a disgruntled boss or teacher, or a rogue biochemical or biological process. Our future is in the hands of a sovereign God who loves us completely, who sits on the throne and rules the world. We are called, once again, to place our hope, our trust in the one Daniel points to, the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world.

No matter how powerful a person may be, he must answer to God. Jesus shows us what life is really about. Join us this Sunday as we study the book of Daniel, chapters 4 and 5.
