John's second letter gives further warning about the danger of the antichrists. It is imperative that we take note, rise to the challenge, and be on guard to the antichrists all around us.

In the book of 1 John, three tests (2:3–11) have been presented to help the readers be assured of having true fellowship with God. The next part of the letter is very crucial because of the warning that it brings to Christians and their focus.

The word love in the English language is so vague isn’t it? When words are used that carelessly they lose their value. John helps us to see that Christian love is both old and new – this seems to be a conflicting message. The commandment to love one another is not new in time, but it is new in character. Because of Jesus Christ, the old commandment to “love one another” has taken on a new meaning.
