Today we finish a three part sermon series on Christ the King. Pastor Mike will be preaching a sermon called "The King of Glory". 

The King Of Glory is mentioned in Psalm 24, often referred to as the Easter Psalm. Through Jesus conquering death and rising from the grave, we see that Jesus indeed is the king of glory, and as followers of Jesus we are promised to have a place in that glory for eternity.

While they were causing Jesus to suffer, they mockingly called him "King of the Jews". What they meant for disrespect and insult, in fact acknowledged the true power that Jesus held.

Today we finish our sermon series on Witness: The Book of Acts. Scott Siemens will be preaching a sermon called "Peter's Persecution". 

Peter is imprisoned by King Herod. God intercedes and works a miracle in his life. A miracle so great that people didn’t believe it was him at the door. For this miracle to happen Peter had to walk forward in faith and listen to God’s messenger. Are we willing to listen to God’s call on our life no matter how incredible it may seem? Our witness hinges on our ability to listen to God calling us even when it seems incredible.

Peter was as mature a believer as possible. He had doubted previously but his life was one focused on Christ and ministry. Peter ends up having a vision that transforms his understanding of Christ’s call on his life. Are we willing to listen to Christ in such radical ways in our own life that we would leave what makes us comfortable to pursue that which God calls us to?

We see in this passage the incredible transformation of Saul into Paul the apostle. His life is completely transformed by the witness of Christ speaking to him, but also the witness of Barnabas. Even in the miraculous transformation – we play a part as one piece in the body of Christ in helping disciple others. What part are you playing in the discipleship of others?

This passage showcases two encounters. One with someone who wishes to purchase the power of God and control it, and one who has a heart turned to God. Simon the Sorcerer and the Ethiopian Eunuch are two examples of how we can respond to God. Is faith something you seek to control and transform things yourself, or is faith something you wish to have transform your life? The witness we have is contingent on having our life transformed by the gospel

Today we continue our sermon series on the Witness: The Book of Acts. Pastor Mike will be preaching a sermon called "Stephen's Transformation". 

We see in this extended passage the Martyrdom of Stephen and subsequent beginning of significant and widespread persecution of the Church. Yet despite these setbacks and obstacles what is clear that the witness of the church was stronger than ever and God used the persecution and martyrdom of Stephen, redeeming it for His purpose.

As we read this passage we see the contrast between the work of God bringing healing to the world and the persecution of those who oppose the work of Christ in the world. We have a decision of who we wish to be and what we want our lives to reflect. We recognize that doing God’s work leads to suffering and struggles in the world – faith is not a thing of convenience
