This may be a word that often makes us feel uncomfortable, since we live in a world that emphasises our own independence and autonomy. However we see servanthood all over scripture, we cannot get away from the fact we all serve someone or something. What makes service not only palatable but actually empowering is the fact we are servants to Christ, the One who loved and redeemed us.

Anoj Joseph continues our identity series looking at the idea of connection. God's intent for us as His body in the earth is to be connected not only to Him, but to each other, in community. While it is true we are connected broadly in the wider Church, there is a deep need for the local gathering. It is the manifestation of the church that proves to be the hands and feet of Jesus. Thus, if we truly understand the need for connection, we will see how we can offer healing and hope.

John 15:1-8. Ps Hilary Williams continues our series on our identity by considering our connection to Jesus. The Son of God reminds us that we are to be branches connected to the central vine or tree, that is God himself. Just as plants need their roots, we cannot exist independent of God. Our Christianity therefore, needs to be less about doing and more about being. The key for us is in the previous chapter - ongoing communion with the Holy Spirit.

Ps Hilary Williams kicks off our new series looking at our identity. The world gives us every kind of label we can imagine, but these labels continue to shift and can falsely colour our understanding of who we are. Thankfully, God's marker of our identity is consistent and unchanging - He loves us deeply! Rather than letting the world, the flesh and the devil dictate a false sense of identity, the challenge is to live in the space of God's acceptance and adoption.

Rohan Arudselvam continues our series on our identity, considering us as the holy people of God. The Bible reminds us again and again that before we met Jesus, we were "enemies of God", "orphans", or "dead in our trespasses". However in Christ, we are no longer in this state! We move from slavery to beloved, from orphans to adopted. In view of God's great mercy, we are thus challenged to live in the eternal hope offered by our loving Father.
