God's word reminds us that God is not only with us, but through the cross He is in us and we are in Him. His eye is never off us, thus, we can be assured we are never alone and He knows us down to our deepest thoughts.

Ps Hilary Williams continues our Wonderful series by observing God's happiness. This is possibly a characteristic we rarely associate with our God. However, if we miss the fact that God is a God who delights, we will approach him from a place of fear, dread and seeking to bring our works to appease Him. Because God is happy, we can also take delight in all He gives, and ultimately, approach Him with delight and confidence.

If He loves us, who have been made in His image, His heart is moved to those marginalised. We must always remember that the gospel transforms us to likewise be a people of justice, and that vertical worship must be accompanied by horizontal mercy.

God is without rival, full stop. There is no battle He cannot win, no adversary He cannot overcome. Ps Christian Kahnt kicks off our "Wonderful" series by considering the transcendence of God. Before we say anything, we recognise that God is outside anything we can comprehend as humans. He has always been, He is self-sufficient, He is untamed. At the same time, His majesty should rightly make us feel small. As we navigate this series, we pray that theology would lead us to doxology (worship), and that we rediscover the wonder of who God is.

Mark 10:46-52. Ps Hilary Williams continues our Arise series by considering Jesus healing Bartimeaus. In this familiar passage, we see a blind man abandon protocol and cry out to Jesus for help. As with Bartimeaus, we need to recognise that encountering the living Christ can only do one thing - completely change us forever.

Ezekiel 37:1-13. Ps Christian Kahnt continues our Arise series by looking at the familiar dry bones passage. The prophet Ezekiel sees a vision of death, which abruptly arise to life as God's Spirit breathes upon the dry bones. While this rightly refers to Israel, we also need to recognise we were just as helpless, hopeless and lifeless. Similarly, we will only experience our own arising when the Holy Spirit breathes upon us, and we pass from death to life because of Christ and the power of His gospel.

Ps Hilary Williams launches our new ministry year looking at Isaiah 60. This hope filled promise of Jesus' coming still speaks to us today. Knowing Jesus in His glory should stir our souls to "arise" and "shine" for the light has indeed come. In doing so - when we are transformed, we cannot help but long for God's glory to impact those around us.
