To be proactive and try to prevent these from happening, we also chat about some general (06:38) and personal signs (Michael: 15:34, Aeriel 16:24). Aeriel then chats about some research she found (30:16) and finally shares some tips on how to get out of a rut (41:26).

We have our first guest, nursing student David B. Together, we share our unpopular opinions in the topic of education (00:34). Aeriel then defines the meaning of "challenges in academic productivity" (16:00). David also shares his story with us (16:51) and his challenges in academic productivity (23:47). Collectively, the three of us make a list of suggestions to help David optimize productivity (32:50). Finally, David shares his opinions in journaling (39:15) and some productivity tools he uses (44:20).

We introduce a new segment: “whadja buy this week” (00:13) and review the Reflectly app we mentioned a few episodes ago (03:58). On the topic of journaling, Michael chats about some of his research (17:30). Both Michael and Aeriel discuss types of journaling (19:30), what journal is best for productivity (21:40), how to start journaling (35:20) and some obstacles to journaling (37:55).

Michael and Aeriel discuss the topic of work flow aka "the zone". With the help of some research, they discuss the origin of this term, what affects work flow, and personal anecdotes.

Both analog and digital productivity tools have their pros and cons. Whether they are used in tandem or one takes priority over the other, is up to you. Michael and Aeriel chat about their preferences and chat about a study they found online that compared retention rates in students that used longhand vs laptop methods.
