Almost exactly a year ago, Part-Time Fanboy began an exploration of the Rocky movies. Every couple of weeks in 2023 we would dive into one of the Italian Stallion’s flicks. From the original Rocky all the way to Rocky V…Part-Time Fanboy went for it and took a swing at breaking down the legendary movie franchise that changed the way movies were made and marketed. Unfortunately, right when we were going to finish up our series on Sly Stallone’s final chapter to the Rocky saga, Rocky Balboa, the SAG/AFTRA strike hit…which kept union members from discussing or promoting struck films. This week, on the almost one year anniversary of when we released our first episode covering the Rocky movies, Yvis and Kristian sit down to talk about Rocky Balboa…the last of the Rocky movies. How does the finale to the Rocky epic hold up after all these years? Find out on this episode of Part-Time Fanboy!

This week Steven Prince returns to the Part-Time Fanboy podcast! He’s been on the show before to chat about his fantastic comic book creation, Monster Matador. This week saw the debut of the latest chapter of the comic on Kickstarter: Once Upon Some Monsters in Mexico! Kristian sits down with Steven to talk about a wide variety of subjects ranging from his experience with mysticism in Mexico, how negative tropes always infected Latinx superhero stories when they where younger and how he avoids them, and the state of independent publishing contracts in the comic industry today. Things get real as they take a deep dive into just how much funding a Kickstarter actually provides for a lot of indy creators, what types comics actually do well on the platform, and the risks he’s taken by sticking with one property instead of trying to develop multiple ideas through the years.

For the past several years, during the month of October, the Part-Time Fanboy podcast has talked about horror movies. This year, however, SAG/AFTRA was on strike so its members were prevented from talking about or publicizing struck movies…which meant pretty much any horror movie we wanted to chat about. Which is why this month Part-Time Fanboy brings you Decrepit December! Part-Time Fanboy has invited some its favorite horror comic creators on the show to chat about horror flicks and it’s Christmas time! So what better terror title could there be to talk about than Black Christmas? David Schrader (Cannibals on Mars, Nightmare Theater, Carmilla Unbound) picks what many consider to be the first slasher movie of all time for this holiday themed episode! He chats with Kristian, Joe Slepski (Joe On Joe Podcast), and Phil Mucci (Diabolik Double Feature) about the movie that started it all! Directed by Bob Clark (the same director that brought us another seasonal classic, A Christmas Story), Black Christmas is the holiday gift that keeps on giving the heebie jeebies every Yuletide! Are you tired of your neighbors’ Christmas lights? Fed up with the constant holiday cheer? Does hearing the phrases “Happy Holidays” or “Merry Christmas” everywhere you go drive you up the wall? Then this series of episodes is for you!
Note: This episode was recorded earlier in the year in anticipation of the actors’ strike ending before of the month of October.

This week’s pick was chosen by filmmaker and comic creator Phil Mucci (Diabolik Double Feature, Professor Dario Bava, Gringo Loco). Phil chose the Italian zombie farce Dellamorte Dellamore (aka Cemetery Man) because he’s a huge fan of the Rupert Everett starring film about a cemetery groundskeeper who must kill the corpses that come to life every night in his graveyard. What seems like a typical horror premise reveals itself to have hidden layers as Phil walks Kristian through what might be one of the most beautifully bizarre zombie flicks every created!
