People ask me what I eat to lose and maintain my weight. I don’t have a specific diet so I’m sharing my version of the food pyramid instead.  While in Hawaii on vacation I ate seafood, cheesecake, pizza, nachos, steak, sushi, veggies, eggs, bacon and cheeseburgers and my bikini was too big. Here are my food guidelines. Enjoy!

Have you heard of intermittent fasting but maybe weren’t sure what it was or how to do it? In this episode we talk about the health benefits of intermittent fasting and how to do it successfully WITHOUT hunger. 

Remember the non-fat diets in the 80’s? Those diets caused more obesity and diabetes than decades of eating fat in our diet. Good news: eating natural fats is good for you (hello bacon!). Bad news: those non-fat diets lead to tons of added sugar in our food. It’s actually SUGAR that makes you fat. But reducing your sugar to less than 50 grams a day will make a big difference in your body (and waistline). 

Maybe you eat based on the clock.  Or you always eat three times a day.  Maybe you’ve learned that eating every 2-3 hours is good for you (it’s not). In this episode we challenge you to try eating based on what your body says. Learning to listen to your hunger and fullness is the key to long term weight management. Fad diets will keep you hungry. Unchecked hunger will lead to binging and rebound weight gain. Clock eating leads to chronic overeating.  Instead, listen to your body and be HAPPY!!!! You’ll be astounded at what your body can do when it’s happy!  I eat anything I want and stay very lean! No fad diets. We’re not selling anything. 

Did you know 95% of diets fail? But we blame the individual instead of realizing that fad diets are failing us. I’ve tried many fad diets and none of them worked. When I stopped dieting and started feeding my body, I lost 40 pounds and have kept it off for a year. I’ll  share what I did. No gimmicks.

In this episode, Jody talks about the first step in her successful weight loss was examining her habits, beliefs, excuses, and overall relationship with food. Before you change anything, it is important to know how you feel about food and that food isn’t the enemy. Do you have beliefs that aren’t true? Has your mind put up barriers that don’t exist? Do you have rituals around food that serve no purpose? Do you have habits that can be exchanged for better habits? We give you tips on how and why you should look at food in a different way and become friends with food.

In episode 001 of Pass the Potatoes, we talk about why people turn to exercise to lose weight and why they often fail. Jody exercised 6 days a week for an entire year. She lost 12 pounds and then stalled out. Exercise has many benefits, but weight loss isn’t one of them. If you can accept exercise for what it is (and isn’t), you may stop punishing yourself with exercise you don’t enjoy, and stop feeling bad when you don’t see big changes on the scale. We hope to inspire you to move your body in a way that feels good.
