Captain Doug Learoyd joins the show to teach us everything we need to know about sitting volleyball and how the Sitting Canucks can qualify for the 2020 Games! Doug has been representing Canada since he was 14, when he joined the Standing Team and helped them to a World Championship. Since the sport changed to sitting, Doug has helped Canada win 4 straight medals at the Para Pan Am Games!

This week we are joined by USports and Ryerson Ram star Lauren Veltman! Lauren is a National and Provincial Champion with Ryerson University. She has also won several individual awards including an OUA First-Team All-Star, a Second-Team OUA All-Star, member of the OUA All-Rookie Team and Ryerson Rams Female Rookie of the Year. Before attending Ryerson, Lauren was a member of the Pakmen Volleyball Club where she won a Provincial Championship and National Silver medal in her 18U year. She was an OVA All-Star in her 17U and 18U and Volleyball Canada All-Star in 17U. Fun fact, Lauren was a star lacrosse player, making the provincial team in 2010.

This week's guest is all round beauty Jeff Millar! He is currently the head coach of the Fanshawe Falcons Women's Volleyball Team. He was recently the Fanshawe Men's Volleyball Assistant Coach from 2017-2019, where he won two OCAA championships, one CCAA silver medal and a CCAA gold medal in 2018-19. Jeff has also coached at Nipissing University, London Fire, Durham Attack, Canadore College, Camp Madawaska and many other teams I'm sure we're forgetting.

We had to chase him for a while, but we finally got Mike Plantinga to join the show! What a journey Mike has had from moving to Toronto fro a summer to earn a nomination for Youth Worlds to leaving U of Alberta early to commit to beach full time. He has been grinding since he arrived in Toronto where he was a baker, server, coach and many other odd jobs just to keep his head above water. Great story and great guy to root for! Mike is a National Champion, Top 4 Finish at Pan Am, an proud owner of the Galaxy Volleyball Club. 

Mike is an amazing family man, and with that you can hear his recently turned 1 year old son in the background a few times. It is not our best audio to date, but who could be mad at the little guy and Mike gave an amazing interview. Thanks for your understanding and enjoy the show!

Shanice Marcelle is one of Canada's most decorated athletes! She won a CIS/USports Championships all 5 years while she was at UBC. She has also won a Championships with her German Pro Team. This summer she earned her 8th Championship by winning Volleyball Canada Beach Nationals! 

Shanice also earned CIS Player of the Year honours and was named the flag bearer at the FISU Games.
