For the believer, egkráteia ("self-control, Spirit-control") can only be accomplished by the power of the Lord.

You either destroy Shame or it destroys you. Shame is a prison cell and Satan is your cellmate.

Men feel Shame when their competence is questioned. Women are collaborative...men value camaraderie.

Women carry Shame in their bodies...culture, trauma, generational curses all effects us. When is it okay to comment on size or weight? NEVER

Empathy, kindness and vulnerability are powerful antidotes to Shame.

Praýtēs: (gentleness) emphasizing the divine origin of meekness. Meekness ("gentle strength") which expresses power with reserve and gentleness.

For the believer, meekness (praýtēs, "gentle-force") begins with the Lord's inspiration and finishes by His direction and empowerment. It is a divinely-balanced virtue that can only operate through faith.

How important is gentleness?

"Goodness has a close connection with humility."

Agathosune: (goodness) is therefore active—even aggressive—goodness. The English word "goodness" includes many pleasing qualities whereas the Greek word indicates one particular quality. It is more than an excellence of character; it is character energized, expressing itself in active good. Agathosune is goodness, but it does not spare sharpness and rebuke to produce good in others. Thus God can correct, sometimes very severely, and it is goodness in action. Thus parents can correct their child, and it is good because it helps produce a responsible adult.

"What is character?"

"Character is who we are deep down inside. It’s what we do when no one is watching. Many times, true character is only revealed through difficult decisions."

"How do we know that we are producing goodness?"

"Why producing goodness is so important; goodness develops our character, keeps us living in a place of humility, brings us to a place of correction through the word of God, through self-evaluation, and allows others to speak into our lives to help develop spiritual maturity."

"The fruit of goodness is about allowing people to see the goodness in you which leads people to see Jesus."
